Time for MCU speculation with investment potential on my favorite topic, the X-Men.

There's been mostly silence - at least officially - on the X-Men movie front, but there's no doubt they will invade MCU. Who will we see on the big screen? It may not be all the familiar faces.

WHAT HOMECOMING TAUGHT US

Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home have given us an indication of what to expect from the Disney/Marvel Studios' version of the X-Men. What we've seen in the Spider-Man films is a clear breakaway from almost everything Sony had previously put on screen. It's a stark contrast, with no Uncle Ben, a younger Aunt May, and he's the heir apparent to Iron Man's billion-dollar fortune instead of a struggling photographer.

Aside from the changes to Peter Parker's backstory, Marvel Studios has avoided rehashing any characters Sony has already featured, with the obvious exception of Aunt May and, well, Peter Parker. Personally, I think all these changes would have been better received if Marvel had gone the Ultimate Spider-Man route and incorporated Miles Morales, but I digress.

MCU SPECULATION IMPLICATIONS FOR THE X-VERSE

How does this relate to the inclusion of the X-Men? It means we either won't see some of the franchise's most famous players or they'll be drastically different. Just last fall, there were rumors circulating that Michael Fassbender would be replaced by Denzel Washington in the role of Magneto. Considering that Stan Lee based Magneto and Professor X on civil rights leaders Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, respectively, it could work in the right creative hands.

I feel it is safe to say that we will see Professor X, Magneto, Wolverine, and Storm in the MCU. Aside from those three, there's no guarantee that Marvel Studios will want to bring back any other X-Man from the Fox franchise.

With that in mind, here are some ideas for lesser-known (at least in the mainstream) X-characters who could be on Marvel's MCU wish list.

MULTIPLE MAN

First Appearance: Giant-Size Fantastic Four #4

If you haven't read the Madrox solo series from 2004, you are greatly missing out on a fun read. Although the Multiple Man has been in the comics since 1975, he rarely gets the spotlight. He played a crucial role in Peter David's X-Factor run, but the solo limited series truly fleshed out this character. Jamie Madrox was given much more of a personality with a sense of humor as the reluctant hero. I see him being the X-Men's version of the MCU Ant-Man, which would be a hit with the fans.

BISHOP

First Appearance: Uncanny X-Men #282

Yes, Bishop was featured in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but he hardly had any lines of dialogue. Marvel has established both time travel and alternate futures in the MCU, and it wouldn't be too difficult to adapt his backstory. Given the proper characterization, Bishop could be one of the better X-Men on the big screen.

WARPATH

First Appearance: New Mutants #16

Days of Future Past brought to live-action - Warpath also. We didn't get to delve into his character, though.

I am a big fan of Warpath, and I would love to see him get a larger role in the MCU's X-Men. In search of his first appearance? He made his grand entrance as James Proudstar in New Mutants #16 as a member of the Hellions before donning the Warpath costume.

DUST

First Appearance: New X-Men #133.

As the only devout Muslim in the X-Men franchise, she is more than just her religious devotion. Since Marvel isn't likely to use Sandman in the Spider-Man franchise, her powers would be something different for the MCU. She's also relatively unknown to mainstream audiences, which would give Kevin Feige and company a blank canvas to bring her character to life.

SHADOWCAT

First Appearance: X-Men #129

The third entry on today's list who was cast for Days of Future Past, Shadowcat wasn't the Kitty Pryde we know from the X-Men. Whereas she starred in the DOFP comics, she was given a different power set and used more or less as a plot device in the film version.

In recent years, Shadowcat has taken a leadership role in the X-Men. It is conceivable that Marvel Studios will continue that idea and have her head the team. Out of every character on today's list, I feel she has the greatest potential to appear in the MCU.

MORE X-MEN MCU SPECULATION TO COME

There are too many potential X-Men to limit to this MCU Speculation list. Didn't see your favorites? List them in the comments.
