WolverineIt is totally up in the air if Hugh Jackman will reprise the role of his iconic character, Wolverine. He has played the character since 2000, beginning with his introduction in the X-Men movie and finishing with Logan in 2017. He has starred as the man with claws in a total of 7 movies and will forever be linked to this character, as Robert Downey Jr is to Iron Man. With Father time closing in, his reign as Wolverine could be coming to a close. With that, there are a couple of notable actors who could be a good fit for Wolverine.

Oscar Isaac:

Issac is best known for portraying Poe Dameron in the most recent Star Wars trilogy. He has been a part of a major movie franchise already, aka Star Wars. If it helps, Disney owns Star Wars, so the transition to Marvel would not be a far leap. In addition, he is more than likely going to be part of the next trilogy for the franchise as well.  Other than Star Wars, he has been in films such as Triple Frontier, Annihilation, and X-Men Apocalypse. He is currently taking on a role in the upcoming movie Dune. With his height being 5'8" to 5'9", he would be short at least in comparison for the height of Wolverine. Though, Jackman portrayed the role very well despite his lack of height.

Charlie Hunnam:

I have heard this rumor for a couple of years now. Hunnam definitely fits the physique of being Wolverine. He is a well-known action star that thrives in being the hero. He has starred in movies such as King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, The Gentleman, Pacific Rim, and The Lost City of Z. As stated before, he has the height, being a towering 6'1" and maybe looking for a new franchise to get back on track. King Arthur was a disaster and Pacific Rim did not do well at the box office as well. If he does get the role, he is going to have start thinking of dying his hair brown.

Taron Egerton:

Taron is another actor in the running to portray Wolverine. He does not have the height like Hunnam, but where Hunnam failed in big movies, Egerton relished the opportunity. He earned a Golden Globe Award for his role in Rocketman and was very successful starring in the Kingsman movie franchise. His age is a big deal, as he is only 30 years old, compared to Hunnam, who is already 40. Egerton has denied the rumors in the past, but it could be Marvel has instructed him to do until the time is right.

Honorable Mention:

I have heard former Game of Thrones actor, Richard Madden, aka Rob Stark, is rumored for the role. With that, he does understand the pressure of carrying an iconic role for a media franchise. He is a bit on the short side and is not well known outside Game of Thrones. Crazy enough, Jason Momoa has popped up in the rumor mill. With his role locked in as Aquaman, it might not be likely. Though he fits the physical features of the role, he would only be cast for the role unless DCEU decides to reboot the whole movie universe.

Keanu Reeves has always been a hot choice for this role, but with his age of 56, it might not be ideal for him. The character of Wolverine would require years of commitment that Keanu may not want to honor. Either way, Wolverine's first appearance in Incredible Hulk #181 will roar to new heights once there is a confirmed actor for the role. Anyways, who do you think will take up the mantle of Wolverine?
