Secret Invasion is on next year’s Disney+ slate, and it is shrouded in mystery. Who will be the key players? Better yet, what will be the key issues tied to the show? Take a look.

There is so much we don’t know about Secret Invasion, and that makes it all the more intriguing. Last month, Marvel/Disney released some teaser images featuring Nick Fury and possibly the Skrull Queen, Veranke, but the studio is keeping us in the dark for now. The direction the Disney+ series will take is a mystery, but there is speculation surrounding these contenders.

VERANKE

FIRST APPEARANCE: NEW AVENGERS #40

It is widely known that Emilia Clarke from Game of Thrones fame will be part of Secret Invasion. What role she is playing, however, has yet to be confirmed. While there are several options for her in the Skrull mythos, the most fitting is Queen Veranke.

This powerful and important Skrull has been rumored for both Secret Invasion and the sequel to Captain Marvel, The Marvels, but the prevailing opinion is that Clarke will bring her to life in the Disney+ series. That makes her first appearance a must-have collectible with a major upside, especially the second print with Veranke on the back cover.

SUPER SKRULL

FIRST APPEARANCE: FANTASTIC FOUR #18

No doubt, the Super Skrull is the number one Skrull that comic fans most want to see in Secret Invasion.

He was a soldier genetically modified to emulate the powers of all the Fantastic Four. That means he has super strength, can generate fire, turn invisible, and make his skin into rock. He can also stretch his body into an elastic form.

The tantalizing part about seeing Super Skrull in the MCU is that his arrival, even without his enhanced powers, could preface the Fantastic Four.

PAIBOK THE POWER SKRULL

FIRST APPEARANCE: FANTASTIC FOUR #358

There have been rumors that Kingsley Bin-Adir has been cast as Paibok for Secret Invasion. If true, he would be the most formidable Skrull we’ve seen in the MCU by far.

Not only does he have super strength, but Paibok can fly with self-generated wings and turn his skin into metal. He can also hypnotize enemies with his eyes and pull a Frozone, making ice from moisture in the air. Did I mention he can also discharge electricity from his body.

THE WARNERS

FIRST APPEARANCE: MEET THE SKRULLS #1

To the best of my knowledge, there are no rumors or gossip pointing to the Warner Family being in the Disney+ series, but they seem too perfect for the MCU to ignore. Think of this as the Marvel Comics equivalent to the streaming series, The Americans. Instead of Soviet spies, the Warners are actually Skrulls who have infiltrated American society in preparation for the coming alien invasion.

Considering the action-comedy formula so prevalent in the MCU, the Warners’ misadventures would be perfect fodder for a Marvel sitcom that plays into Secret Invasion

THE COMING INVASION

Marvel has several options when it comes to adapting Secret Invasion for the screen, and any number of them could have major implications for the future of the MCU. Whether we will see another tongue-in-cheek comedy routine from the peace-loving refugee Skrulls we saw in Captain Marvel or if Kevin Feige and company will lean more toward the Secret Invasion comics is anyone’s guess. Either way, it should be fun to see it all unfold.
