Power Pack 1Power Pack has been on the MCU agenda since virtually day one, but there is still no clear plan to put them on screen. That makes for an investment opportunity.

It is going to happen.

True, there has not been much talk about Power Pack in years. Even with all the Disney+ series being churned out, the Pack is being left out of the discussions. That would lead us to believe that the much-anticipated Pack debut has been forgotten. Not so fast.

Power PackTHE 2008 SEC REPORT

A couple of years ago, I detailed my findings from a 2008 Securities and Exchange Commission report. What I found was that Marvel used the movie and television rights to a dozen of its characters as collateral for a $525 million production studio. Needless to say, it was a good decision.

Of those twelve, 11 have been headliners on either film or television screens. That includes the Avengers, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Cloak & Dagger, Hawkeye, Hulk, Nick Fury, and Shang-Chi. It seemed random that Shang-Chi would be on the list, but, lo and behold, he has his own movie in the works.

Out of the dozen characters who were on that 2008 list, the only ones who have not starred in a movie or series is Power Pack. Their time is coming, trust me.

THE POWER PACK RUMORS

The Pack rumors go back a long time. They were among several properties Marvel discussed putting on the big screen before settling on Iron Man. Since the MCU took over the box office, the Pack rumors keep churning. Last fall, a report circulated that an animated series was on the way, but nothing has been said since then.

Clearly, Power Pack is on the back burner, but their time is coming. With the success of the MCU Spider-Man films and DC's Shazam, kid-centric superhero movies are big business. No question, Disney owns the market on kids' movies and has since the 1940s. Power Pack is tailor-made for a family-friendly, action-comedy audience, and there is no way they will let this property collect dust for much longer. Besides that, it seems Marvel still has a business deal in place with whoever lent the $525 million for the production studio, judging by the SEC report.

POWER PACK #1

This has not been the biggest seller in recent months. That is understandable considering the lack of news for their MCU debut. In the past 90 days, only six different grades have been bought and sold online with less than 40 total copies trading hands.

The lack of interest plays into your favor as an investor and collector. Last year, the 9.8 set a new record high of $380 when the rumors circulated about an animated series. Since then, it has stayed more in the $150-$200 range. However, the most recent sale was for $300, and it has a 90-day fair market value of $229, so prices are starting to climb. Once Power Pack officially gets a movie or even an animated series, that $229 FMV will seem like a bargain for a near-mint+ grade.

If $229 seems too much for your taste, opt for the 9.6, which many collectors have been doing. Since last summer, this has been the most popular grade, selling 53 times online. In that time, it has averaged less than $70, and it has not sold for more than $94 all year. This is a perfect opportunity to get a high grade for a steal, and your investment will pay off with some patience.

Power PackTHE FUTURE

Power Pack has a bright future on either the big or small screens - possibly both. This is the time to invest in their debut issue, and it will turn into profits when Kevin Feige makes the announcement that the Pack is on the way to the MCU.
