Media Release -- Mark Millar and J.G. Jones, who created the popular limited edition comic "Wanted," will both appear at Wizard World Big Apple Comic Con, Oct. 1-3 at Penn Plaza Pavilion in New York. They will greet fans as well as participate in a panel discussing the landmark comic, which was until recently the industry's biggest-selling creator-owned book of the last 10 years, as well as their other extensive works.
"There is nowhere on the planet I'd rather be on the 1st to the 3rd of October this year than the Wizard show in New York. Actually, there are loads of places, but they won't return my calls. Wizard not only called me but paid my airfare so I'll see you all there to talk about Superior, Nemesis, Kick-Ass 2 and Ultimate Avengers. Also, please bring along Wizard 228, which is out now, and have me devalue it with my signature," Said Millar.
Millar is a multi award-winning writer who has revamped "X-Men," launched a number one "Spider-Man" title, brought "Captain America" into the 21st Century and made "Superman" a communist. He is also the writer of the U.S. industry's biggest-selling comic book of the past decade, Marvel's "Civil War," published in 2007. His "Kick-Ass" comic, later sold as a blockbuster film starring Nicolas Cage, sold more than "Spider-Man" and "X-Men" from issue one with an unprecedented five printings every issue.
Jones, who did interior pencils and inks on "Wanted," is perhaps best known for his work as cover artist on various comic book series, including a stint on Brian K. Vaughan's "Y: The Last Man" (Vertigo Comics), and, for DC Comics, the six-issue limited series "Villains United" written by Gail Simone, as well as all 52 covers for the maxi-series "52." His other interior art credits include: "Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia" (pencils) written by Greg Rucka and Grant Morrison's Marvel Boy published by Marvel.
