Walking Dead #85Media Release -- Witch Doctor #0, the debut original comic published by Robert Kirkman's SKYBOUND, will preview as a flip insert on May 25, 2011 within The Walking Dead Issue #85. In addition a limited number of copies will include a special edition cover from Witch Doctor illustrator Lukas Ketner. Witch Doctor #0 will give horror lovers a compelling glimpse at the series as well as a welcome intro to the first "Original" on the SKYBOUND imprint.

Witch Doctor is a medical horror comic from Brandon Seifert and Lukas Ketner, a pair of Alaskans currently based in Portland, Oregon. The book is described as Sherlock Holmes meets Fringe, and features Dr. Vincent Morrow, "a physician who fights outbreaks of the supernatural, trying to find a vaccine for the apocalypse," according to writer Brandon Seifert.

Lukas Ketner, illustrator for Witch Doctor and the special edition variant cover of The Walking Dead #85, is honored to close out the issue, "This is very tangible example of the kind of support and exposure we've been receiving from both Robert and the rest of SKYBOUND. We couldn't ask for a better introduction to new readers."

Robert Kirkman is excited to share this engaging first look; "Witch Doctor #0 is an updated version of the very first Witch Doctor story that caught my eye in the beginning. I wanted to present this wholly original story that stands alone, and won't be contained in the mini-series in a way that will make a splash and catch readers imagination the same way it caught mine. So, we're doing a flip-book with Walking Dead 85, free of charge."

The eerie series is the first SKYBOUND Original to be released on the Kirkman's Image Comics imprint, and he is looking forward to continuing the hunt for more new talent. SKYBOUND's focus will be on cutting-edge material that exists outside the typical comic realm.

ABOUT ROBERT KIRKMAN: Robert Kirkman is a New York Times bestselling author known for being the cultural zeitgeist of the comic book industry. Following the grassroots success of the self-published Battle Pope (2000), Kirkman caught the eye of Image Comics founding partner Erik Larsen. After several short-term projects (SuperPatriot and TechJacket), he achieved superstar status in 2003 with Invincible and The Walking Dead. During a subsequent stint at Marvel Comics, he gained many new fans with the haunting and hilarious Marvel Zombies. MTV translated Kirkman's Invincible into a motion comic – one of the first in a growing industry trend. Kirkman's SKYBOUND imprint, under the Image Comics umbrella, is committed to fostering up-and-coming talent in the industry, and Kirkman himself handpicks all acquisitions. Kirkman won the 2010 Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series for The Walking Dead. AMC's interpretation of the comic, helmed by Frank Darabont and Gale Anne Hurd, has received glowing reviews from critics and fans alike, and continues to garner the highest ratings for the network, making it a game changer for groundbreaking television on cable.
