2021 Nov 9 Video Games and Trading Card Games Auction #312145

Heritage's weekly video game and trading card auction is currently underway, sliding another bushel of graded video games across the auction block. A few are commanding more interest than others; here's a look.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Wata 9.2 A+ Sealed [Collector's Edition], N64 Nintendo 1998 USA. This is the fourth best-selling N64 game, with 7.6 million copies sold. It currently has the highest average score of all professional video game reviews to date. Produced and directed by Shigeru Miyamoto, this game received praise from critics and consumers alike and won several awards and accolades.  Its gameplay system introduced now-standard features such as a target lock system and context-sensitive buttons that are now considered common elements in 3D adventure games.

A WATA 9.2 A sold for $7,500.00 in October of this year and a 9.0 A++ sold for $12,000.00 in November, both through Heritage. This game has a current high bid of $1,050.

Call of Duty: Finest Hour - Wata 9.8 A+ Sealed [Sony Security Label], PS2 Activision 2004 USA. Drawing its fair share of eyeballs is the first console game in the Call of Duty series. This installment of the COD franchise was released on November 16, 2004 from Activision and Spark Unlimited for the PlayStation 2, GameCube, and the Xbox. By July 2006, sales of Call of Duty: Finest Hour console games reached 4 million units in the United States.

An additional plus, the voice of British Sergeant Starkey was provided by AC/DC lead singer Brian Johnson.

9.8 WATA Sealed copies sold on Nov 1, 2021 for $1,860.00 and on Sep 13, 2020 for $2,040.00. Currently, this game rests on a high bid of $500.

Aero the Acro-Bat 2 - Wata 9.6 A+ Sealed [Made in Japan], SNES Sunsoft 1994 USA. This sequel is a port of the 1994 Sega Genesis platformer developed by Iguana Entertainment for Super Nintendo Entertainment System and features cover art by Greg Martin.

The game is dedicated to famed Brazilian racer Ayrton Senna, who died in a car crash during a Grand Prix. The current high bid for this entry is $460.

2021 November 2 Video Games & Trading Card Games Auction #312144

When it comes to the items with the highest numbers of bids, there were familiar faces at the top of the list this week in Heritage's latest video game auction. Here are a few that people were very interested in owning.

Super Mario Bros. - Wata 9.2 A Sealed [Oval SOQ TM, Later Release], NES Nintendo 1985 USA. Available for bids is the best-selling NES game of all time.

Designed by Shigeru Miyamoto, it's the Nintendo Entertainment System black box launch title and first video game in the Super Mario Bros. series. This game paved the way for the side-scrolling platformer genre.

Super Mario Bros. needs little explanation as to why it would attract a high number of bids, as its legacy speaks for itself. This copy sold for $48,000.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero - Wata 9.6 A+ Sealed [Oval SOQ R], NES Taxan 1991 USA. Published by Hasbro, this one is based on the popular G.I. Joe toy line and TV series. The cover art is by Greg Winters.

Did this game attract so much attention because of last summer's Snake Eyes movie? Or is it just the legacy of the character alone that holds attention? Combination of both? Either way, G.I. Joe continues to make his mark on American pop culture.

This highly graded copy sold for $19,800.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - Wata 9.8 A++ Sealed ["Trilogy" Release, Later Production], PS2 Rockstar 2004 USA. This is a best-selling video game on the PlayStation 2 with over 27 million copies sold. In fact, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas sold 2.06 million units within six days of release in the United States. It was the top-selling game of 2004 in the United States.

The game is controversial due to the sexual "Hot Coffee" mod, leading to the ESRB's creation of the "Adult Only" rating and a brief recall of the game. Wata notes, "from 3-game Trilogy set; from sealed factory 14-pack".

This game sold for $312.
