Trailers, trailers, all around.

It seems that every couple of weeks, there’s a new superhero movie trailer being released. If it’s not a trailer for a movie or show, then it’s pictures from the sets that give us our first look at the actors portraying some of our favorite characters.

That being said, join me today in looking at the Hottest Comics featuring some household names that are lighting up screens and comics alike.

VENOMVERSE

The first set photos from Sony’s “Venom” have surfaced, and it’s got the Venomverse stirred up.

For the entire month of October, “Amazing Spider-Man” #300 has been the top-selling comic. Below that, you have “Venom: Lethal Protector” #1 up 56 positions in 19th. Although it predates Venom’s first appearance, “Amazing Spider-Man” #252 is 11th. If you’ll recall, that is the first time Spider-Man wore the alien suit in ASM. Just 47 issues later, and the symbiote would bond with Eddie Brock to become Venom in his first cameo appearance in “Amazing Spider-Man” #299. Speaking of which, ASM #299 is a respectable 51st this month.

With the anticipation of “Venom” building, the character’s “son” is still bringing in the dollars.

Over the summer, Sony announced that Carnage would be the antagonist to Venom in his first solo movie. Although “Amazing Spider-Man” #361 isn’t selling for quite as much as it did a few months ago, it’s still the second-most-popular comic in October. When you move down the Hottest Comics list, however, you’ll find Carnage’s second appearance in “Amazing Spider-Man” #362 sitting in 44th.

Carnage fans will recall that their favorite serial killer made his first cameo appearance in “Amazing Spider-Man” #344. While Cletus Kasady didn’t get his red symbiote for another 17 issues, his debut issue is gaining popularity. This month, it jumped 195 places to secure 56th.

BATMAN

As arguably the most popular member of the Justice League, Batman is featured heavily in the “Justice League” trailers. Of course, even without the JLA movie, the Caped Crusader would still sell loads of comics. It just so happens that he’s getting special attention at the moment.

Topping the Bat-titles is the legendary graphic novel, “Batman: The Killing Joke” at number 18. Alan Moore redefined the Joker with his take on the character’s past, which has since become the quintessential Joker story. What intrigued me the most, however, was the way in which Moore envisioned a Batman that, despite his own brutality when it comes to serving up vigilante justice, has sympathy for his enemy. Personally, I thought the Joker’s punchline about the mental patients walking across the beam of light was pretty good.

Among the newer titles is the big proposal issue, “Batman: Rebirth” #24. This Tom King story finally saw Batman ask Catwoman to marry him. She has since said yes, but I’m still skeptical if this will stay canon. Regardless of my prediction, this is a seriously hot comic. It’s up 298 positions and is currently 71st.

DAREDEVIL

The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen has a couple of issues inside the top 100 this month.

First off, you have the first appearance of Elektra in “Daredevil” #168, which is ranked 70th on the list. While she isn’t new to the screen (Jennifer Garner was the first to bring the character to life in the 2003 “Daredevil” disaster, although I did like that version of the suit), Elektra gained popularity when she was featured heavily in season two of Netflix’s “Daredevil” and “Defenders.” As fans await season three, there’s little doubt that she’ll be returning after the way “Defenders” ended.

Just seven spots further down and you’ll find Daredevil’s first appearance in the pages of 1964’s “Daredevil” #1. Another classic Stan Lee and Jack Kirby creation, this one is always a good choice.
