Uncanny X-Men #230 PGX 9.2 Signed by Stan Lee & Jack Kirby: $2,655.00
Having Stan Lee and Jack Kirby sign a comic book is always an honor, but why Uncanny X-Men #230? This isn't anything remotely special about this comic. In fact, when I checked the CGC Census, I was surprised anyone even bothered to have this book graded.
There are 204 blue labels; people will have anything graded these days! According to GoCollect, the FMV of a CGC 9.8 copy of this book is $80 (although a copy sold for $38 on eBay in October). I suppose the seller thought Stan and Jack's signatures were worth approximately $2,600?
At least the seller was willing to take 10% off! If only it were graded by CGC...

Here's another head-scratcher from the Copper Age. While some investors might consider this a minor key since it features Marvel's two most popular superheroes, the FMV of a CGC 9.8 according to GoCollect is only $230. Even the FMV of an extremely rare 9.9 (only one in existence) is only worth $1,315.
The seller has received over 1300 reviews and 99.4% of them were positive, but mostly sells home goods on their eBay page. Maybe they received bad advice on this comic?
Interestingly, there are 85 eBay members watching this listing... it must be due to the free shipping!
Superman #75 CGG 9.8 Qualified: $100,000.00
Here's one of the most over-printed and infamous books from the 1990s. Considering its large print run, I was surprised when I saw that there are only 1,104 CGC 9.8 copies of this book on the CGC Census. That, of course, doesn't justify a $100k price tag!
According to the CGC grader, this book received a qualified grade because it has "JERRY SIEGEL," "DAN JURGENS," and "47/1000" written on the cover in marker. Maybe if the seller cracked this case and had those signatures verified by CBCS, then they could sell it for $100k... just kidding. What is this seller thinking?

And the most expensive comic book listing in this blog? That goes to the seller asking for over half a million dollars for a variant of the comic with the highest print run in history: X-Men #1.
This, of course, is the highest-printed comic book in history. Love them or hate them, the 1990s left a massive impact on comic history. X-Men #1 encapsulates what is both great (the dramatic, detailed artwork) and eye-rolling (remember the holographic covers?) about the decade.
