Young Avengers #1If you haven’t picked up Young Avengers #1, you are behind the curve.

The Young Avengers are coming to the MCU sooner or later. The latest rumor has Hulkling appearing in the Disney+ series, WandaVision. For over a year, Marvel Studios has been rumored to be aligning the stars to bring this next-generation team to the big and small screens, and this adds fuel to the speculation fire. Here's what you need to know.

Young Avengers #1 - HulklingWHO IS HULKLING?

A Kree/Skrull hybrid, Teddy Altman - also known as Dorrek VIII and Dorrek Supreme - is the son of the Kree's Mar-Vell and a Skrull princess. Teddy was then smuggled to Earth and raised as a human until he was discovered by the Super-Skrull.

Despite the name, Hulking has no connection to the Hulk other than his green, muscular appearance and his name, which he adopted upon joining the Young Avengers. To avoid confusing mainstream MCU audiences, it’s likely he won’t be called Hulking in WandaVision.

Young Avengers - WiccanWICCAN

When Teddy comes to live-action, he probably won’t be alone. In the Marvel Comics universe, Teddy is in love with Wiccan, who also first appeared in Young Avengers #1. Kevin Feige has said that Marvel is currently working on adding gay characters to the MCU, and this could very well be what he was implying.

In the comics, Wiccan and his twin brother, Speed, are also members of the Young Avengers. What makes me certain they will be major characters in WandaVision is that they are the children of the Scarlet Witch and Vision.

Young Avengers #1YOUNG AVENGERS #1

For over a year, I have been predicting big gains for this issue, and it will soon come to fruition.

This issue keeps getting more collectible. Feige gave the issue a boost when he said that he was hoping to bring the team to live-action in the coming years. Then word came that Kate Bishop would be appearing in the Hawkeye Disney+ series. With the possibility of both Hulkling and Wiccan being featured in WandaVision, this issue will only become more expensive, so get your copy now. If these two are confirmed for the MCU, then it will be clear that Marvel is piecing together the Young Avengers, and then prices will really inflate.

At the moment, a standard edition graded at 9.8 is averaging close to $200, but it won’t stay that cheap for long. Last year, this was a $243 comic, so the price lull gives you an opportunity to set yourself up for a nice profit in the coming months.

If you’re looking to stretch your budget dollars, consider the 9.6. After carrying a $119 fair market value in 2019, it’s averaged close to $100 this month. Three of the five sales were between $83-$95, so there’s a good chance you can claim one for under $100 if you act quickly.

MORE TO COME

WandaVision is shaping up to be must-watch television for MCU fans. Not only are there going to be connections to the Young Avengers, but the series is reportedly tied to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and S.H.I.E.L.D.’s interstellar counterpart, S.W.O.R.D. That makes WandaVision must-see for collectors as well.
