There is ONE Tweet this week that Trumped them all (I know, I know...I couldn't resist the pun though!) and that is, of course, centered around the Presidential Election.  How will the comic industry depict Joe Biden over the next four years?  Past Presidential Appearances in comic books can give us a clue!

There Are Comics with Presidential Appearances Worth Collecting!

Presidents have made their way into comic books pretty consistently since FDR made an appearance in Captain America #2 in 1941.  Presidential election cycles draw interest to these comics, so it is fair to speculate on some of the issues to collect with President appearances in them.  Which ones will draw collector interest though?

Captain America Rules Presidential Appearances!

Captain America is the one comic book character who has by far featured the most presidents within his storied past. Franklin Delano Roosevelt made a Bronze Age Appearance in Captain America #255 and it has a great Frank Miller Cover.  At under $100 for a CGC 9.8, this is well worth collecting.  Ronald Reagan was also featured in the pages of Captain America.  He can be found in issue #344 in which he became an early version of Venom.  Not much movement though!  Finally, George H.W. Bush appears in Ultimates #3.  Again, not much movement with this comic, but I really like the Ultimates storyline.  I definitely see a future in the MCU with this comic run so maybe this is worth a look.  Marvel may feature Biden in a Captain America storyline.

Howard the Duck...For President?

Former Presidents Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford appeared in Howard the Duck #8. This issue is by far one of the most off-beat Presidential Appearances.  First, the cover is outstanding.  The assassination attempt in which the gunman "Thought he was in season" is a great line.  Second, Howard almost wins except there is a fake news story about a sex scandal, and he loses the race.  If only he ran today!  This is one of those comics that checks a lot of boxes for picking up.  It has a unique cover, it is a niche series that enjoys fan support, and it has Presidential appearances.  CGC 9.8 of this comic book jumped 155% in October.  Is that a sign of things to come?  I don't see Biden appearing in an off-beat concept comic.

Amazing Spider-Man #583 Obama Variant Best Presidential Appearance Ever?

Maybe because it is a variant cover, maybe it is because his election is historic, and probably because of a lot of different reasons, but former President Obama's Amazing Spider-Man #583 cover variant has had quite a run of sales, and it has spiked recently.  While a CGC 9.8 is up about 30% since April, a CGC 9.4 has more than doubled in value in the same time frame with some consistent sales up over the $100 mark.  This is one area that former President Obama will likely always surpass current President Donald Trump.  Trump has appeared in a few Marvel Comics, Iron Man #227 for example, but that issue is not likely to come close to the kind of attention that Amazing Spider-man #583 will always receive.  Could Biden receive similar treatment?

Some Other Presidential Appearances Worth a Look

Former President John F. Kennedy appeared in Action Comics #309, significant because it was released just two weeks after JFK's death.  Other notable Presidential Appearances include Former President Bill Clinton, who was a pallbearer in Superman, the Man of Steel #20.  Former President Dwight Eisenhower Appeared in Mystery in Space #30, and former President Richard Nixon appeared in Fantastic Four #103.  These are all comics worth the investment.
