Spawn remains the king of the collecting mountain again this week. He'd better make room for the Oddball of the Week, though, courtesy of the comic adventures of a 1960s nursing student that begs the question, who’s buying this stuff?

1. SPAWN #1 (NO CHANGE)

Spawn #1s may not be in any short supply by any stretch of the imagination, but it does not stop collectors from wanting their own. Despite the lack of movie reboot news, this has once again become the top-selling comic of the week.

Spawn has been back in the spotlight as of late with the Spawn’s Universe kickoff. What also could be fueling this is the announcement that a Sam & Twitch detective show is back in the works, but we will see if that actually makes it to the filming stage this time around.

47. SPAWN #9 (+55)

Image’s iconic series had another top-seller, though this one is more connected to Marvel than Spawn. Angela’s first appearance in Spawn #9 made waves again this week. It comes on the back of more rumors that she will make her MCU debut in the near future, possibly as soon as Thor: Love and Thunder.

After all, since she has been part of Marvel Comics, Angela has been transitioned into a daughter of Odin and Thor’s sister. That makes her a prime target for Marvel Studios to introduce her into the MCU.

48. SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN #1 UNLOCKED RETAILER EDITION (+61)

SIKTC has become an absolute behemoth of the market, and it will only become an even bigger seller now that the Netflix adaptation is in the works. From the standard copy down to all the variants and even the eighth printing, collectors can’t get enough SIKTC #1, and prices just keep elevating. This week, it was the #1 Unlocked Retailer Edition making waves.

Even the Local Comic Shop Day foil edition is still hanging toward the top of the list, ranking #49 this week. All through the Hottest Comics, SIKITC #1s are one after another, and that will not be changing anytime soon.

81. RED SONJA #1 (+919)

Conan and Red Sonja were popular among collectors again this week. While Conan is the familiar face inside the top 100, the first issue of Red Sonja’s self-titled series was on the move this week, falling only one spot behind Conan the Barbarian #1. Her first appearance in Conan the Barbarian #24 is up 700 positions of its own, reaching the top 300 this week.

All of this attention is stemming from the new movie news that continues to percolate. In recent weeks, the lead role was cast. That brings it much closer to fruition than many other comic-related projects.

ODDBALL OF THE WEEK

853. LINDA CARTER, STUDENT NURSE #1 (+146)

There is no question that the Silver Age was a strange time for comics. This particular comic proves that publishers were throwing every idea at the wall to see what stuck. Even more surprising than seeing Linda Carter, Student Nurse #1 getting enough sales to make it inside the Hottest Comics rankings is that Stan Lee is credited with writing and editing this one.

I have said it before, and I will say it again, there is a market for everything.
