Buyers fixed their gazes on the X-Men’s famous Cajun mutant this week as the Ironheart market was heated up. Welcome to the Trending Comics, where we take a dive into the deep end of the eBay swimming pool.

If you have been following these blogs for long, you know that the Hottest Comics rank the top-100 best-selling single issues across eBay. The data is updated continuously, so you get the most recent sales figures, and the index can change by the day. Keep in mind that these rankings are all about the sales volume and not the fair market values.

11. UNCANNY X-MEN #266 (+14)

The X-Men are the talk of the MCU after Ms. Marvel was confirmed as a mutant in her show’s season finale. There’s also talk of actor Taron Egerton playing Wolverine for Marvel Studios. What hasn’t been mentioned is what other X-Men characters will be joining Logan in the MCU.

Judging by UXM #266’s gains this week, buyers are thinking Gambit will be part of that crew. Don’t forget that he was slated for his own solo adventure before Disney acquired those Fox properties. Will we see a Gambit movie in the future? Time will tell, and it will make this an even more expensive issue.

47. UNCANNY X-MEN ANNUAL #14 (+22)

To further spotlight buyers’ infatuation with Gambit, his overall first appearance was on the move as well. It was in this 1990 issue that readers were treated to the mysterious Cajun, but the debate is whether or not it counts as a cameo or full first appearance.

All arguing aside, this would be the Gambit key to own if Andy Kubert’s famous cover art had been attached to Uncanny X-Men Annual #14 rather than UXM #266.

37. VENOM #3 (+33)

Fans may be divided on Thor: Love and Thunder, but the consensus is that Gorr the God Butcher was a well-rounded villain. His time in the MCU appears to be over, but his legacy could live on in the form of the Necrosword.

Although the movie skirted past All-Black’s origin, comic fans know the magic blade is tied to Knull, God of the Symbiotes. There were no direct allusions to Knull. Still, it stands to reason that the Necrosword could pave the way for his live-action arrival. That is likely fueling the latest speculation for Venom #3.

96. IRON MAN #1 (NEW TO THE LIST)

Now that Ms. Marvel’s first season has wrapped, the attention has shifted to another upcoming Disney+ show, Ironheart. Will she become the MCU’s next Iron Man? Will the rumors pan out regarding Robert Downey, Jr. voicing her suit’s A.I.?

It all adds up to an increase in interest for a perennial favorite, Iron Man #1 from 1968.

71. INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #9 (NEW TO THE LIST)

With San Diego Comic-Con revving up this weekend, the word is that Marvel Studios will unveil its full plan for Wakanda Forever. To this point, all the talk has been about Namor’s possible involvement in that movie, but we already know that Riri Williams will debut in the Black Panther sequel. If footage or at least concept art is officially revealed, I would expect to see Riri and possibly her Ironheart armor. There must be some buyers with the same idea since her first appearance in Invincible Iron Man #9 was back in the top 100 Hottest Comics.
