There’s a new king of the Hottest Comics mountain this week, but how long will that last?

Whether or not you are a Lobo fan, you’ve got to enjoy seeing a DC Comics key move to the top spot. Besides Spawn #1, the top 10 is typically dominated by those hot Marvel issues, and that hasn’t changed. However, if DC Studios’ new co-chairs can make good on the hype, there could be more parity in the secondary market to come. For the time being, it’s still a Marvel world, and that is particularly true in the wake of Wakanda Forever.

1. OMEGA MEN #3 (+34)

Could this be the dawning of a new age of DC key hunting? We’ve said that before to no avail. Nonetheless, James Gunn has ignited an interest in DC like nothing before, and it’s trickling into the secondary market. The studio co-chair’s Lobo tease on Mastodon Social is adding fuel to the fire, and it’s catapulted Lobo’s first appearance to the top of the charts.

It’s not like we haven’t seen DC keys occasionally crack the top-five Hottest Comics, but this is a different vibe from the past.

22. BLACK PANTHER #2 (+71)

Shuri’s comic introduction kicked in the afterburners this week, rocketing through the index with a 71-position gain. It’s typical for keys to lose their luster after the movie’s big debut, so seeing Black Panther #2 fall to the 93rd spot wasn’t all that unexpected. Shuri’s fierce comeback is enough to get your attention. No doubt, she will be a major player in the MCU going forward, making this an issue to add to your collections.

82. FANTASTIC FOUR #33 (NEW TO THE LIST)

Here’s a comic that we don’t normally see on the Hottest Comics list. This 1964 issue featured the debut of Attuma, who was originally one of Namor’s villains. The undersea barbarian at one point became the ruler of Atlantis before Submariner set things right. After making his silver screen introduction in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the odds are high that we’ll see him again since the writing is on the wall for Namor to have his own movie or at least Disney Plus franchise.

85. BLACK PANTHER #5 (NEW TO THE LIST)

Shuri is all the rage in the MCU at the moment, and that translates into a sales spike for her key issues. While this comic may surprise you at first glance, it’s no wonder that it has cracked the top-100 best-sellers. Actually, the real surprise is that it took this long. Black Panther #5 gave us our first look at Shuri as the new Black Panther and protector of Wakanda. With Wakanda Forever having firmly established her as the face of the franchise, this issue will only get more popular.

99. DEADPOOL #1 (NEW TO THE LIST)

Deadpool 1

Rounding out the Hottest Comics this week was Deadpool’s first foray into solo adventures. After Wolverine #88 took a tumble, you’d expect other Deadpool keys to follow suit. However, seeing his first self-titled comic still clinging to the top 100 is a good sign. Let’s face the facts: Deadpool is much too popular for any of his keys to stay down for long, especially anything tied to the third movie. Deadpool #1 may be at the bottom of the list now, but it won’t stay there forever.
