Spawn has retaken his throne atop the Hottest Comics this week, but there are some interesting additions a little further down the list, giving us this week's Trending Comics.

Welcome to Trending Comics, the blog that takes a deeper dive into eBay’s top-100 best-selling single issues. The data changes by the day and things can move quickly in the world of comics. With each new movie or streaming series announcement, it creates a new round of speculation frenzy that sweeps the hobby.

By the time the news hits the airwaves, prices are already through the roof. The trick is getting ahead of the curve, and watching the buying trends can help in that department. This week, I’ve got some interesting finds for you. Take a look.

1. SPAWN #1 (+2)

Trending Comics

The reigning King of Hell has returned to the top spot in this week’s rankings. Then again, it gets its mail in the Hottest Comics’ top five practically every day. This is a testament to the character’s immense popularity, not to mention the availability of practically any grade at any given moment.

With so many copies in circulation, it helps to keep the overhead down, and that only adds to Spawn #1's appeal. Todd McFarlane still claims that he will get a movie in production at some point. On the day that finally happens, this comic will set records.

32. THE ETERNALS #1 (+35)

Trending Comics

Out of the ashes, Eternals #1 rose in the rankings. After the lackluster reception for The Eternals movie, the hype for their key issues took a nosedive. Despite the promise of more silver-screen adventures to come, collectors and investors shied away from Eternals #1’s inflated price tags.

It would seem the tide is turning, and that coveted first appearance has regained some of its footing. This will be a good issue to watch in the coming weeks to see if it can climb back into the top 20.

77. THE SANDMAN #1 (+14)

Trending Comics

In the face of Netflix sounding the alarm over first-quarter losses and rumors that Sandman was getting the ax, Neil Gaiman assured us that the live-action series was on the way. This week, the first trailer hit the internet, and it is causing another stir for those Morpheus key issues.

The prices had already spiked when the project was first announced, but trailers have a way of reigniting fires under collectors and investors. That has apparently given 1989’s Sandman #1 a fresh push up the ladder.

86. THE TOXIC AVENGER #1 (NEW TO THE LIST)

The oddest of the oddballs has returned to the Hottest Comics. This week, we find B-movie legend the Toxic Avenger making strides in the top-100 eBay sales. Most likely, this is due to the movie reboot on the horizon that has a surprisingly star-studded cast.

Although there haven’t been any new reports as of late, the interest in the updated Toxic Avenger has given new life to one of the strangest heroes of the Modern Age.

97. SUB-MARINER #1 (NEW TO THE LIST)

Sub-Mariner 1 created by Bill Everett

The hot rumor on the internet is that Marvel is on the cusp of making its biggest announcement in some time. For years, the gossip was that Namor would oppose Wakanda in the Black Panther sequel. Last year, the rumor mill continued churning, this time claiming that actor Tenoch Huerta would don the green Speed-O and swim into action as Submariner.

While that news has waxed and waned, it was never disproven. Now there is questionable concept art floating around the gossip sites claiming to be straight from Marvel. That is propelling buyers to grab the Lord of Atlantis’ first Silver Age solo comic in case it is true.

Keep up with the Trends!
