Sure, the movers and shakers are the eye-catchers of the Hottest Comics. When you see these massive numbers beside a hot (or cold, depending on the blog) title, it begs to be watched. To me, the more interesting picks come from deeper in the top-100 best sellers. That’s where you see which issues could be next week’s hottest title, and that could put you ahead of the collecting curve.

57. THOR: GOD OF THUNDER #2 (+15)

Just when I was ready to close the book on Gorr the God Butcher, his first appearance made a small comeback.

Only days ago, God of Thunder #2 had slipped to the 72nd position, and I was half expecting it to vanish from the top 100 altogether. Despite Christian Bale’s wonderful performance, Thor: Love and Thunder didn’t resonate with audiences in the same way Ragnarök did. Unless Marvel has some trick up its sleeve to bring him back from the dead, which is highly doubtful, then his 15 minutes of MCU fame have expired, which is why this issue suddenly fell flat. Yet, here it is gaining ground.

Why would this issue make even a small climb? My guess is it’s tied to All-Black, the Necrosword. As comic collectors know, that is the handmade weapon of the Symbiote God himself, Knull. There have been steady rumors that he will join the MCU or Sony-verse in some fashion, and that could be keeping this issue alive on the secondary market.

Fans are gearing up for the second season of What If…?, and we expect to see more Captain Carter. Yes, her live-action counterpart died in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but that was on Earth-838. It wasn’t indicated which Earth the character from What If…? called home, so that leaves us with hope that she’ll return in animated form.

Buyers almost certainly had similar feelings on the subject, which is probably what led to Captain Carter #1 getting a sales boost.

Those 1980s cartoons have been retro gold in recent years. While G.I. Joe’s live-action movies have been questionable, there’s no denying the show’s enduring popularity.

With so many franchises being dusted off for animated reboots, I would not be surprised at all if Hasbro commissioned a new G.I. Joe cartoon. That would certainly lead to the team’s first comic appearance getting a lift in the sales department.

FBI Special Agent Jimmy Woo is making his return to the big screen in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, marking the first time we’ll have seen him since WandaVision. Fans have wondered for years if his appearances in the MCU could lead to an onscreen New Agents of Atlas, who debuted in this issue.

In the comics, Woo managed the team of Shang Chi, Amadeus Cho, Silk, Wave, Crescent, Io, Luna Snow, Aero, and Sword Master. Could this be another team destined for the MCU? Buyers weren’t taking any chances.

Eight-Billion-Genies-1-standard-195x300 Trending Comics: Gorr Makes Gains

Amazon is seemingly betting the farm on Eight Billion Genies. Based on the concept of what happens when everyone in the world gets exactly what they want all at the same time, there is a movie in the works.

Reportedly, a spinoff series and possibly more movies are on the table as well, so Amazon clearly sees big things with the property. Need more genie info? Your wish is my command, so check out the blog from earlier this month, “Make a Wish, Bro.”
