Wolverine #88 rode the Deadpool 3 excitement into the top-five Hottest Comics this week, but the interesting pick is the free comic that is now earning $90.

It’s time again to put on our SCUBA gear and take our deep dive into the top-100 best-selling comics on eBay, better known as the Hottest Comics index. This week, there were some thought-provoking choices scattered down the ladder.

3. WOLVERINE #88 DELUXE EDITION (NEW TO THE LIST)

Fans are still reeling from Hugh Jackman bringing Wolverine into the MCU via Deadpool 3. In turn, they went straight to eBay to grab Wolverine #88, which featured the first meeting between the two characters.

This happens to be the deluxe edition, not to be confused with the standard edition that is doing solid numbers in its own regard. Since this one is slightly more rare, it understandably becomes the investment darling of the lot.

6. NEW MUTANTS #98 (+4)

Those Deadpool keys are on the rise, and no one should be the slightest bit shocked by that. The huge Deadpool 3 reveal has sent shockwaves through the secondary market. While Wolverine #88 grabbed the headline, the “Merc with a Mouth” and his first appearance in New Mutants #98 has pushed its way into the top-10 Hottest Comics.

We’ve seen this a couple of times before with his prior movies, so it’s routine for this issue to get a boost with the latest announcement. Of course, those values will drop after the movie arrives, so plan accordingly with your buy-sell strategies.

76. FCBD AVENGERS/X-MEN/ETERNALS: JUDGMENT DAY #1 (NEW TO THE LIST)

Kicking off the next Avengers/X-Men crossover, and this time with the Eternals thrown into the mix, Marvel debuted the first issue as part Free Comic Book Day. Already, the graded 9.8 is approaching the $100 mark. Why would a free comic suddenly be on the verge of triple digits?

It comes down to that oh-so-important first appearance. In this case, it’s Blade's daughter, Bloodline. Whether or not she will be a major player in the future is anyone’s guess, but investors didn’t mind rolling the dice this week, especially with the chance she was created specifically for the new movie.

87. UNCANNY X-MEN #268 (NEW TO THE LIST)

XMen_Modern_Classic

Practically anything with Wolverine on the cover is a hot commodity these days. With the high prices for his bigger keys, it makes sense that buyers are turning their collective attention toward some of the lesser issues. That leads you to the doorstep of UXM #268 with its iconic Jim Lee cover that puts Wolverine, Captain America, and Black Widow together.

If we ever get the three characters together in the MCU—maybe via a flashback—this comic will be on the move in a big way.

100. MARVEL SPOTLIGHT #2 (NEW TO THE LIST)

It didn’t take long for this comic to cool off. The Werewolf By Night Disney Plus special only debuted two weeks ago, and Jack Russell’s first appearance in Marvel Spotlight #2 is barely clinging to the top 100. For that matter, since it’s new to the list, that means it fell out of the top 100 only days ago.

As popular as the special has been, it’s surprising that MS #2 isn’t ranking in the first 50 at least. Such are the ebbs and flows of those MCU keys.

Keep up with all the latest trends!
