I have been writing this blog since 2017. In that time, I watched GoCollect grow from a nuanced data mining operation to a top comic tracking and data evaluation company, with "enhanced tools for the savviest collector!" I had to learn the ins and outs of GoCollect over these four years.  Today I am going to share five GoCollect tips to get the most of your experience.

TITANS POCKET BOOK (MARVEL DIGEST SERIES) U.K. (1980 Series) #3 Near Mint ComicsTIP #1 (Digest Notifications)

Under this heading, you have five different notifications you can set up.  Comic Collector's Corner is just one of the five, this will have blogs delivered to you on the go.  For the speculators among us, this is a critical piece. Sure, there are other companies that provide this service, but there is a difference between alerting you to a key and in-depth analysis from the speculators and investors that have been buying and selling for over a decade.

There are also Special Offers and Promotions delivered 1-2 times per week, maybe get some free swag, to boot! Be sure to click on the "save my changes" button at the bottom of the page.

TIP #2 (Dazzling Dashboard)

This appears under every page simply as "Dashboard" with the number of watch alerts. If you click on any comic on GoCollect you have six buttons at the top under the title of the comic book.

For instance, Spider-Man #1 (Silver Edition) (please see the image below). Simply click on "Watch" with the tiny eye symbol and that symbol will turn to "Watching." This essentially adds the comic book to your "Dashboard" of comics that you are interested in. Perhaps the ones you own, or simply want to track. It will provide updates on every single sale of that particular comic. This is one of the best services GoCollect offers; skip this one at your peril!

Spider-Man #1 (Silver Edition)

  Analyzer  Modeler    Watch

All you need to do is click on the "Watch" button and you are tracking this comic in your Dashboard.

What's the Census and Why Does it Matter?TIP #3 (CGC Census Data)

Oh boy! This is a biggie if you want to understand value and or hype in regards to a particular comic book. The ability to see how many of a particular comic book have been slabbed (and in a specific grade) is a must-utilize for the serious investor.

There are other places for this info, but GoCollect makes it incredibly easy. When you click on a particular comic book it immediately brings up the FMV and Sale History on the left of the screen. However on the right of the screen is CGC Census, and to see the numbers recorded at CGC you need to scroll down to see it clearly. You will pass a graphic color-coordinated, skip it! Then you come to the good stuff, grades, totals, Universal vs Qualified, etc... (See Below)

 CGC® Census
Data provided courtesy of the CGC Census
Grade Total Universal Top Qualified Top Signature Top Restored Top
10.0 6 6 0.0% 0 - 0 - 0 -
9.9 76 69 0.5% 0 - 7 0.2% 0 -
9.8 9,805 7,376 51.7% 41 16.0% 2,383 62.6% 5 17.2%
9.6 4,335 3,496 76.0% 68 42.4% 767 82.7% 4 31.0%

This CGC Census will let you know if a particular book is simply overproduced and what percentage of total CGCs. These are key, so make it part of your speculation arsenal.

Long Comic Book Storage Box SupplyTIP #4 (My Comic Lists)

This is a nuanced expansion of the watchlist listed above.  At the top of the standard GoCollect page, click on your username (usually at the top). There is a drop-down arrow. Then click on My Comic Lists. What will pop up are four different lists: Comics I like, Own, Want, and New Lists.  All are good, but I think the "Comics I Own" is the most useful.  If you enter a comic and click on edit, there is a laundry list of items for you to add about your books. This is very useful if you do not own inventory software or haven't created an Excel sheet to track it. This gives you data storage and instant price tracking for your comics, at NO ADDITIONAL COST!

Authentic Models Sopwith Camel Model PlaneTIP #5 (The Modeler)

This is the least used of the GoCollect function buttons. When you click on a comic, one of the buttons just under the title is "Modeler. " This particular button allows you to adjust and save the time frame you are interested in. Anything from 30 days to 730 days of tracking. Save your "time frame" and then click on "Analyzer" which will allow you to narrow the "Sales by Grade." The bottom line is that you will narrow and focus your return trends and get closer to the true value of what you are trying to buy or sell.
