The top five Bronze Age comics for last month have one thing in common; they are all Marvel issues. Two of the top five are relatively new to this rarified space just last month, namely The Eternals #1 and Thor #337. It seems like these two books have been percolating like a coffee pot for several months. I don't remember seeing Thor #337 this far up the rankings before, and the perpetual motion machine of the Eternals #1 has also been a head-scratcher. I mean after all who is more popular than either the early symbiote or Wolverine for gosh sakes?

Thor #337

The fifth most popular comic in the Bronze Age is Thor #337. This is the first appearance of Beta Rey Bill, a hero pure of heart kind of like the cosmic Silver Surfer. This first appearance has had a ton of rumors that Beta Ray might appear in some future iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Now, be that as it may, does this book produce profits? Yep.

  • Grade 9.8 $475 FMV returns positive +65.9%
  • Grade 8.0 $100 FMV returns positive +71.8%
  • Grade 7.0 $85 FMV returns positive +174.2%

Incredible Hulk #181

This is the preeminent Bronze Age key. In fact, the King of the Bronze Age going forward ad infinitum. No one character is as popular or as well known except perhaps Superman, Batman, and Spider-Man. This first appearance of Wolverine is a big key. This is a moneymaker for sure, it is definitely "the best there is at what it does!"

  • Grade 9.8 $37,000 FMV returns positive +127%
  • Grade 8.0 $3800 FMV returns positive +76.3%
  • Grade 6.5 $2600 FMV returns positive +72.3%

Amazing Spider-Man #252

This is the first black Spider-Man suit in a regular series. Quite popular as well as an homage to the first Spider-Man comic Amazing Fantasy #15. This is the third most popular comic last month and has been reviewed many times.

  • Grade 9.8 $500 FMV returns positiveĀ  +12.4%
  • Grade 8.0 $80 FMV returns negative -2.8%
  • Grade 6.5 $42 FMV returns positive +18.4%

Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars #8

This is the first Spider-Man symbiote black costume and the first time it enters the narrative in Secret Wars. Which actually came far later then ASM #252. It has a huge draw now and has been in the top five for quite some time. With another Venom movie on the horizon, this book has just started to rise.

  • Grade 9.8 $240 FMV returns positive +19.6%
  • Grade 8.0 $75 FMV returns positive +42%
  • Grade 6.5 $46 FMV returns positive +12.7%

Eternals #1

The first appearance of the Eternals #1 has been on a tear like an ATV across the dunes. The change in this book since the first Iron Man movie hit the theaters in 2008 is night and day. Back then it was worth nothing. Now leap forward 11 years and suddenly this once $1 bin special is worth a substantial amount, the grade 9.8 currently has a value of $1100 and rising.

  • Grade 9.8 $1100 FMV returns positive +140.6%
  • Grade 8.0 $120 FMV returns positive +88.4%
  • Grade 6.5 $80 FMV returns positive +70.7%

The wrap on these books is that all of these comics hold and increase in value, for at least the next 2-4 years possibly longer. The only exception to that rule is Eternals #1 sell this puppy into the new movie, trust me you don't want to be holding this once Angelina Jolie pouts her lips on-screen. Sell it before truly bad acting starts!
