Don’t miss out on today’s “D” titles. From capes and villains to smaller, under-the-radar titles, we’ve got just the thing for your collection.

I’ve never really been a huge Daredevil fan–I guess you could say that the movie really stuck with me. I decided to give the book a shot this week and picked up Daredevil: The Devil, Inside and Out. I gotta say, I enjoyed the book, for the most part.

Superheroes usually have a pretty strong set of ethics, and Matt Murdock is no different. In fact, he’s a lawyer by day, so you could say that he holds himself to a higher standard. When a tabloid leaks that the blind Murdock is the mild-mannered alter ego of DD, the feds perk up and haul him off to Rykers Island Prison. That’s where we come in. Imagine what a jail cell is like for a person with superhuman senses. It’s HELL, and Ed Brubaker is great at making us feel like we’re right there with Murdock.

After a series of events (no spoilers in this post, people), someone close to Murdock is killed and that’s when he snaps. They’ve unleashed the Devil in Hell, and nobody’s going to be able to rein him in. Meanwhile, on the outside, J. Jonah Jameson is waging a smear campaign against Murdock in the papers, we see the legal system fail our hero, and Daredevil continues to prowl Hell’s Kitchen. Confused? I was there with ya, but Brubaker brings it all together at the end of the first book, I promise.

Of course, I’m not gonna stop at Vol. 1–I’ve come this far, and I’m gonna see this through to the end. The second book follows Daredevil as he continues to work his way up the food chain to find those responsible for killing one of Murdock’s closest confidants. The second half moves a little slower than the first, but the twists and turns that show up later in the story really make the ride worth it and have a major impact on what’s coming up next month when Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. The Kingpin, returns!

Other gems today include Stephen King’s Dark Tower comic book adaptation, a few classic DC Archives books, and Keith Giffen’s Dominion.

We’ll see you back here tomorrow for the “E” titles! That means Marvel’s Essential books, Ex Machina, Excalibur, and more!
