Sometimes all it takes is a man and a plan to pull off the long con.  A spy can spend their entire life trying to assimilate into a culture and work up through an organization to gain something credible for their cause.  What if all of the people you thought were "good guys" had ulterior motives?  At what point would you be able to discern good from bad?  Who could you trust?  If any of this sounds intriguing, you might be a fan of the Thunderbolts!

The Thunderbolts would be a nice diversion from the traditional Marvel movie formula.  It would turn the idea of a hero and villain on its head and blur the lines between the two.  Previously, I had mentioned the idea of the Squadron Sinister/Supreme being a fun adaptation for a Marvel movie.  Have a group of powered beings from another planet, or dimension, brought to Earth to assume the roles of heroes only to have devious plans instead.

A concept like the Thunderbolts would also be a twist on all the uber-positive stories we are accustomed to.  In the comics, following the disappearance of the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four who were seemingly destroyed by Onslaught, Baron Zemo taps a team of villains to pose as a new hero team to fill the void.  With the absence of the normal heroes, Zemo hopes to dupe the general populous and world organizations like SHIELD into, eventually, giving them the Avenger's greatest secrets and access to their arsenal which he will then sell to criminals.  A bold idea indeed.

There is genuine belief that the good-bad guys are doing good and the Thunderbolts are poised to succeed in their mission.  Unfortunately, the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four all return to spoil the scheme.  In the long run, the Thunderbolts morph into a group for reformed villains who wish to convert to heroes and use their powers for good.  This redemption squad is under the command of Norman Osborne which is one of the more popular versions when planning Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) speculation.  I hope for Marvel to avoid all things Osborne, as we have been there and done that, we deserve something fresh.  You already have the presence of Thunderbolt Ross, so utilize him and maybe tease some Red Hulk?

There has been a steady sale of Incredible Hulk #449 which features the first appearance of the Thunderbolts.  Fair Market Value (FMV) sits at $290, for a 9.8 grade, and copies are selling above $300 consistently.  Almost every copy that is posted under the $300 price is bought off the market immediately leaving copies listed above $300 on sale.  It may not be long until you see sellers push the price up and test the market.  This book should see FMV creep up above $350 shortly as the market shifts in response to demand.  Be wary, as this is a fairly modern comic being from 1996 and is loaded on the census in the higher grades.  This is a recipe that can lead to a speculation disaster, so be cautious.  This book has a value limit.
