Welcome back to this week's top pics from Heritage's weekly Sunday and Monday comic book auctions! Heritage holds weekly funny book auctions which feature key issues, overlooked comics, oddball memorabilia items, and more. If you're looking to beef up your collection, these auctions are a must! Here are my top picks for you to watch.

Superman: The Movie Lunchbox

In 1978 Richard Donner's Superman flew into theaters. The movie starring Christoper Reeves and Margot Kidder has become one of the most beloved superhero films of all time, with fans still saying it's the best Superman movie ever made. Superman: The Movie had an impact on pop culture -- even prior to the film -- but it is easy to see that the 1978 film reignited the public interest in the man of steel. Children (or anyone who took lunch with them) could have very well used this Superman: The Movie metal lunchbox from Aladdin.

Vintage metal lunchboxes are very collectible, but as with any item, condition matters. This lunchbox is missing the thermos, and Heritage does note that it has scratches, but otherwise presents in Very Good condition. Similar lunchboxes have sold on eBay between $30 - $50, but due to the condition expect to pay on the lower end. If you love Superman or metal lunchboxes, don't overlook this item!

The Amazing Spider-Man #129

Spider-Man is without a doubt one of the most popular superheroes of all time. The story of a superhero teenager balancing life and being a hero is compelling -- even more so, the villains are also as compelling as our famed wall-crawler. In The Amazing Spider-Man #129, Marvel introduced a new type of antihero, The Punisher. While he might have initially been sent to kill Spider-Man, the Punisher evolved into one of Marvel's most recognizable characters.

This blue label CGC 9.8 with white pages is truly as good as it gets. According to the CGC census, 166 copies have been graded 9.8, with no copies being graded higher. This Bronze Age key has always been a popular book, with said popularity hitting its current peak in March of 2022. The current one-year average for this book is $34,342, while the fair market value is $24,000. This is a great key book for any collection if you can get it at the right price.

Swamp Thing #1

I've said it before in prior articles, but with James Gunn's recent DCEU announcements, all eyes should be on Swamp-Thing, and the potential these books have. This hero has seen his fair share of movies and television shows, but they seem to barely make a dent in the overall superhero media world. With Gunn at the helm I am optimistic that things will turn around for the character -- in fact, we've already seen interest in key Swamp-Thing books start to go up.

This blue label CGC 9.2 with white pages is a beautiful copy. As said earlier, interest in this book has gone up. The one-year average is $534, but the fair market value is $650. If you're still thinking about adding this book to your collection, I wouldn't hold out much longer! This will heat up if a formal Swamp-Thing announcement is made.
