The Knull market boom is not limited to Venom #3. Check out four other appearances of the God of the Symbiotes and his Necrosword that are all earning triple figures.

Knull's Popularity

There isn't a character hotter than Knull. After debuting two years ago, he has captured the imaginations of fans everywhere, and his status in the Marvel Universe is growing by the day. Now he is set to take on both the Avengers and the X-Men in the upcoming "The King in Black," and I predict we will have a Knull solo series within the next year.

That has set his key issues ablaze. While the four printings of Venom #3, particularly the third printing which sold for an astounding $1,000 on July 12, are in the highest demand, don't neglect his other key issues.

Knull Key Issues

THOR: GOD OF THUNDER #6

Donny Cates may have breathed life into Knull, giving him a name and a backstory, but it was Jason Aaron who planted the seeds for the "King in Black." It was only a cameo, and the entity later known as Knull was not identified, but he was there nonetheless.

When Knull first made shock waves in the Marvel Universe, this quickly became the issue to have. Up until 2018, no one paid much attention to the mysterious cameo. Only a year prior, a 9.8 Thor #6 sold for just $20. Things changed. By October of 2018, God of Thunder suddenly jumped to $150.

Flash forward to 2020 and the current Knull boom. On March 13, one copy reached a record-high $350, and the last four sales have all reached between $295-$300.

SILVER SURFER BLACK #1 (SECOND PRINT)

If you're looking for fair market value, you'll want to steer back toward Thor #6 or the many editions of Venom #3. For the Knull fans, this is a must-have issue because it firmly places "the King in Black" within the larger scope of the Marvel Universe. It also marks his first appearance outside the Venom-verse, Thor #6 withstanding.

There are too many SSB variants to fit into today's post. I'm going to focus instead on another early cover appearance for Knull in the second printing. Out of six sales in 2020, the 9.8 has earned between $135-$150 five times. It currently has a 90-day FMV of $142.

KnullTHOR: GOD OF THUNDER #2

Knull and the Necrosword, All-Black, are tied as closely as Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet. If you're going to piece together the Knull keys, then you will want the first appearance of his legendary weapon as well. It would surprise me if it doesn't come into play during "The King in Black," which will give it even more attention.

Like Thor #6, this issue was thrust into the collector's spotlight after Cates worked his magic. Back in 2017, a 9.8 Thor #2 was selling for a mere $31. By December of 2018, that same issue had jumped to $200. In the past three months, it has averaged $207, and the last two sales have earned $230 and $205.

KnullVENOM #4

Speaking of Knull and All-Black, it's worth collecting his second full appearance in Venom #4. This story gave readers the origin of the God of the Symbiotes and how he forged his Necrosword from the first symbiote. It also hints at his bigger role in the retconned Marvel history when it is revealed that he used All-Black to behead a Celestial.

As with everything Knull, this issue is setting record highs. Since April 21, the standard edition at a 9.8 has not sold for less than $100. Its 90-day FMV stands at $120, and one copy brought $150 on July 13.
