Media Release — SAN DIEGO, CA – (July 23, 2009) Steven A. Simak, editor-in-chief of CFQ Comics premiere comic book release, THE UNKNOWNS, unveiled a limited edition, special preview issue at the 40th Anniversary Comic-Con in San Diego, CA. More than 100,000 die-hard comic book fans are expected to attend the annual convention that runs through Sunday.
THE UNKNOWNS, a twisty, action-packed superhero noir features the likeness of actress/model Monica Olsen, who portrays the titular character of Alexis Davenport, a suburban office worker who learns that she was once part of a globetrotting mysterious superhero team, The Unknowns. Searching for her true identity, Davenport will be reunited with her colleagues and go in search of who wants them dead and what they were trying to cover-up without knowing who she can – and can’t – trust.
Olsen will spearhead a multi-platform campaign for the book which will include live signing appearances at Comic-Con, as well as future promotional campaigns to support the Fall 2009 launch of the first issue, as well as potential film, video game, action figure and Smartphone application spin-offs. A soundtrack album is also planned for release to tie-in with future issues.

The series is created by Mark A. Altman and Steve Kriozere, and written by Altman, whose extensive film and television credits include such films as Dimension’s DOA: Dead Or Alive and Free Enterprise, starring William Shatner and Eric McCormack, as well as TV series, which include ABC’s Castle, V.I.P. and NCIS.
50,000 copies of The Unknowns #0 preview book will be distributed to fans at the convention with the first issue hitting stores in September 2009.

MONICA OLSEN (Alexis) Bombshell Monica Olsen began her career as a model when she was 14 and quickly entered the ranks of “supermodel” as she walked the runways and was featured in campaigns for some of the industry’s foremost designers, and graced the covers of magazines around the globe. With her lust for action and astounding beauty, Monica continuously steals the show in all of her screen appearances and has been featured in favorites such as The Hot Chick starring Rob Schneider and Rachel McAdams. A true “guy’s girl,” Monica is a staunch advocate of sports, video games, science fiction, comic books, and poker, and incorporates them all into her life. She first got hooked playing X-Box 360’s ESPN NHL Hockey, and now tests out all the games that she can.
MARK A. ALTMAN (Writer/Co-Creator) is the writer/producer of Free Enterprise, the award-winning comedy classic, starring Emmy Award winners Eric McCormack (Will & Grace) and William Shatner (Star Trek, Boston Legal), In addition to having been a writer/producer on the ABC series, Castle, and recently producing the $30 million film adaptation of the bestselling video game, DOA: Dead Or Alive, which was released by The Weinstein Company’s Dimension Films, Altman is also the co-writer of the sci-fi comedy, Abducted, which was optioned by Steven Spielberg’s Dreamworks SKG. He recently co-wrote the upcoming remake of the 1983 teen comedy, My Tutor, with Steve Kriozere, and has also written for both Malibu and DC Comics. He is also the founder and publisher of Geek Monthly, the leading magazine devoted to pop culture.
STEVE KRIOZERE (Co-Creator) is a television writer-producer whose credits have included the hit television shows Castle, N.C.I.S. and the Pamela Anderson juggernaut, V.I.P. His freelance writing credits include Sliders, The Sentinel, NightMan, Team Knight Rider and Viper, as well as animated shows Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi (Cartoon Network), Loonatics: Unleashed (Kids WB), MTV’s Animated Spider-Man and Edgar & Ellen (Nicktoons Network). He also developed the feature film adaptation of the novel, Howling Mad, for director Walt Becker (Wild Hogs) and Beacon Pictures.
STEVEN A. SIMAK (Editor-In-Chief) has had a lifelong passion for film, television and comics. In addition to publishing the beloved Galactic Journal Magazine for nearly a decade, Simak also served as editor of The Armageddon Gang comic serial published by Femme Fatales and was producer of the popular NPR series, Music of the Cinema. As a writer he has contributed to numerous magazines including Cinefantastique, Sci-Fi Universe and Digital Magic.
