New AvengersThere is investment potential for those Secret Invasion keys, particularly anything connected to the New Avengers.

Since Endgame wrapped up the first era of the MCU, we've been wondering where the Avengers franchise is heading. Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Widow are gone. Thor appears to be staying in the cosmos. What is Marvel left with?

Enter: the New Avengers and Secret Invasion.

New AvengersHAS SECRET INVASION ALREADY BEGUN?

I have been writing for months that Marvel's future plans both on movie screens and Disney+ is setting up Secret Invasion. All the pieces are there: Skrulls, S.W.O.R.D., and covert impostors. The Skrull invasion has begun despite portraying them as peaceful refugees in Captain Marvel. Things are going to get ugly, and that is where Wolverine will set up the New Avengers.

Here's my logic. As I have theorized, I don't expect to see Logan as an X-Man. Instead, I picture him as the Weapon X secret agent/assassin Patch. Just as Nick Fury recruited the original Avengers cast, the super spy will pull Logan into the New Avengers to tackle the Skrull threat. With his heightened senses, he will be the most valuable for detecting alien impostors.

The thing is, Spider-Man: Far From Home may have already kicked off the New Avengers. The connection between Fury and Spider-Man has been firmly established, just like when he appeared in the Iron Man post-credits scene, and Peter Parker could be Fury's second recruit behind Captain Marvel. Once Logan (alas, sans X-Men) makes his debut, the team will officially start to pull together.

This won't happen anytime soon; Wolverine hasn't even been cast for the MCU. Once he arrives, it will herald the arrival of the new, edgier Avengers for a new audience, thus giving Marvel Studios brand new stories to tell with an all-new, all-star lineup.

New AvengersWHO WILL BE THE NEW AVENGERS?

The main three heroes I can see in New Avengers are the aforementioned Wolverine, Spider-Man, and Captain Marvel. Past that, it's anyone's guess.

With the New Avengers, Marvel could pull away from the classic Avengers team we saw in the first two movies, so I don't anticipate Thor, Hulk, Vision, Scarlet Witch, or Hawkeye joining the ranks (though I could see Clint Barton's Ronin character on the team).

Instead of Hulk, the easiest solution would be to include She-Hulk if Marvel Studios is willing to put its Disney+ series' star on both big and small screens. Speaking of Disney+, I can see Sam Wilson's story carrying over from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier into New Avengers, possibly with Winter Soldier in tow. Black Panther could also join the team and perhaps serve as the unofficial leader.

New AvengersNEW AVENGERS #1

Is there any guarantee that New Avengers is on the horizon? No, but the idea makes too much sense for Marvel Studios not to have already thought of it. Whether or not my guesses will hit even close to the mark remains to be seen, but in the meantime, I suggest investing in the team's debut.

At a 9.8, the standard edition of New Avengers #1 typically stays within the $40-$60 range. However, the last sale was for $135 on May 15. Will that prove to be an outlier? I think so, but time will tell.

When it was originally published in 2005, there were five variants, but the one that holds the most value is the Joe Quesada edition. Like the standard cover, the Quesada variant has jumped in the past month. On May 27, one sold for $70. Otherwise, this had been closer to a $50 comic on average. Again, is this an outlier or a new trend? We will have to wait and see.
