Munk-One-300x157 The Art of Munk OneWhen it comes to bright, eye-catching poster designs one name stands out. Jose A. Mercado, better known as “Munk One”, is one of the best working illustrators out there. Munk One has created incredible gig posters for bands like Mastodon, Slipknot, Metallica, and the Foo Fighters. So take a look below at some of our favorites. See why Munk is one of the best to ever do it!

Earth to Munk One

munkfoofighters-225x300 The Art of Munk OneUp first is A poster Munk One designed for a Foo Fighters concert at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ in 2016. The focal point of the design is the astronaut plummeting through a psychedelic fog. The design is balanced out by flaming chrysanthemums surrounding the character. This 18×24” poster is a 9-color screenprint on white stock paper and was limited to only 30 copies. There was also a “Moonrock” paper variant limited to just 25!

Queens of the Stone Age

The dark design features an interpretation of “Dancing with the devil.” So it’s only fitting the band name surrounds them in  A flame design. This print was a 5-color screenprint on pearl paper stock and was a limited edition of just 25 copies. Additionally, only 20 copies of the AP champagne foil variant were printed.

Primusville

“Getting all 7 colors of the goblins into this print as well as a colorful and bright background was very important to me, so I pushed myself to use more overlays than I usually do. I have to say I’m very happy with how it turned out while still using a limited pallet of only 6 colors including the backline.”-Munk One
