Collecting trading cards has been a time-honored tradition for generations. From baseball cards to Pokemon cards, there’s a trading card for every kind of fan! Trading card games focus on the gaming aspect of certain trading cards — such as the previously mentioned Pokemon, as well as the widely popular Magic: The Gathering.

Star Wars: TOPPS Series 4 Green Border Group of Six

In 1977 Star Wars took the world by storm. The movie would spawn an entire merchandising machine, which included anything and everything that companies could stick a Star Wars sticker on. Trading cards were a natural fit for merch, with Topps leading the way.  Each series of TOPPS Star Wars had a colored border to correlate with their series. The fourth series featured green borders, along with card numbers 199-264. These cards can be very collectible, and are a ton of fun to find, especially graded!

This lot of six PSA-graded cards is an impressive find. Each card received a PSA 7 NM, except for The Rebel Troops card which received a PSA 8 NM-MT grade. TOPPS Star Wars cards do surprisingly well in auctions, especially graded ones. While finding an appropriate price point for this lot is a little harder, expect to pay over $200 for them.

Pokemon First Edition Fossil Set Sealed Booster Box

Sealed booster boxes are some of my favorite collectibles. They're a fun gamble for TCG collectors as there are endless possibilities for what's inside. This sealed First Edition Booster box is sealed and ripe for picking. The Fossil edition was the third set in the Pokemon series, and included some pretty cool Pokemon! This box could include Pokemon such as Aerodactyl, Slowbro, and Haunter.

Sealed booster boxes can fetch impressive amounts of money. In January 2023 a sealed First Edition Fossil booster box sold for $14,400. Prior to that a similar box sold for $11,700 in June of 2021. It is possible this box could go over $14K, but be prepared for it to stay in the $11K - $14K range. Heritage notes this box as being in excellent condition.

Pokemon Unlimited Base Sealed Booster Pack

If sealed boxes or booster packs are a worthwhile gamble, don't overlook this Unlimited Base sealed booster pack. Heritage has three in this week's auction, so if you're looking for that rare Charizard card, this could be your chance! The Unlimited Base set introduced the iconic TCG to the world in 1999, thus creating a merchandising storm. Pokemon is one of the most played games, being enjoyed by people of all ages.

These Unlimited Base sealed booster packs have commanded serious money in past auctions. Ungraded booster packs tend to sell between $250-$350 on Heritage and do pop up fairly often in auctions. If you're looking to take a gamble and don't mind the price, this could be worthwhile. If you're just looking for sealed booster packs for your collection I might be a little hesitant, but ultimately, it's your collection so do what makes you happy.
