Collecting trading cards has been a time-honored tradition for generations. From baseball cards to Pokemon cards, there’s a trading card for every kind of fan! Trading card games focus on the gaming aspect of certain trading cards — such as the previously mentioned Pokemon, as well as the widely popular Magic: The Gathering.

Each week, Heritage holds a TCG Select auction, featuring some fine examples from the TCG world. These cards can be raw, graded, or sometimes still sealed in their original packaging. If you’re a TCG collector, these weekly auctions should not be overlooked!

Pokemon Dark Dragonite #5 1st Edition Team Rocket

Team Rocket is on a mission to capture some of the most powerful, and rarest, of all Pokemon. They're also on a mission to capture Ash Ketchum's Pikachu -- either way, they want what you have (or also want). This Dark Dragonite is one such Pokemon. Dragonite itself is a very powerful Pokemon that will lash out against opponents.

This blue label CGC 9 Mint card is one of the best grades you can get on any trading card. The last sale on a similarly graded card was July 2022 when the card sold for $312 -- one month prior the card sold for $288. Yet, in April 2022, a Dark Dragonite sold for $312, so this card holds steady at around $290.

Magic: The Gathering Juzam Djinn

The very first expansion pack after the initial Magic: The Gathering release was Arabian Nights. Released in December 1993, the expansion included 92 cards that could be used in play with the original set. One such card, Juza Djinn, is one of the most popular cards of the set and will cost collectors and players alike a small fortune to get their hands on. While this card isn't listed as rare, it is uncommon, making it harder to track down. Heavily-played cards can fetch over $1K, while high-graded cards can go for much more -- in fact, the current median price on ungraded cards is $3,189.

Offered here is a blue label CGC 5.5 Excellent+ card. There are nine total cards with the same grade, and only 56 cards have been graded higher. In August 2022 Heritage sold a similarly graded card for $1,680, so if you don't mind a mid grade card this may be worthwhile. By comparison, a BGS 9.5 sold for $4,320 in February 2019.

Pokemon (French) 1st Edition Base Set Group of Three

While a majority of collectors will go for the English or Japanese versions of Pokemon cards, it can be fun to collect cards from other countries! After all, Pokemon is loved worldwide by players of all ages. Offered here is a set of three first-edition base Pokemon -- Raichu, Nidoking, and Ninetales (Feunard). These cards are from the French edition and boast a blue label CGC 9 Mint grade. If you're looking to add to your growing Pokemon collection, don't overlook these. Many collectors and investors might shy away from them since they are in French, but there's a cool factor to owning something like this.

In the past Heritage has offered graded French Pokemon cards. In July 2022 a similarly graded Ninetales/Feunard sold for $216. An ungraded English card has a base price of $189, while a blue label CGC 9 sold for $1,170 in November 2021.
