Now that we know the full cast for James Gunn’s Suicide Squad 2, it is time for the feeding frenzy for their first appearances. Here is your first breakdown on some Suicide Squad Keys.

Maybe you're like me, and the 2016 Suicide Squad movie left a bad taste in your mouth. Now that Gunn's vision of the Squad is taking shape, I have high hopes for the sequel. Will it be another action-comedy in the vein of Guardians of the Galaxy? Likely, and I am fine with that.

As I am sure I am not alone in my excitement for the new Suicide Squad, it is time to look closer at the first appearances of three new members.

Suicide Squad Keys - First Appearances

SUPERMAN #4 (1987)

The newest addition to the onscreen Suicide Squad took many of us by surprise, including me. In all honesty, I had never heard of Bloodsport before DC Fandome. If anyone besides Idris Elba were bringing him to life, I might not think much about the character. When Gunn puts an accomplished actor like Elba in the role of Bloodsport, it is clear that he will be an integral part of the film.

The best part for collectors is that Gunn is utilizing an obscure modern character. With Golden and Silver Age's first appearances, prices are automatically going to be steep. Since Bloodsport debuted in the 1980s, his debut comic is much more reasonable.

There have been just 26 sales of 9.8s in 15 years. Last year tied the record high of...four. There have already been four sales this year, giving it a $73 fair market value in 2020. Compare that with 2019’s $56 average, and you can see how much the movie news is helping Superman #4 become a minor key issue.

Suicide Squad KeysFIGHTIN’ FIVE #40 (1960)

A relic from Charlton Comics, Peacemaker premiered in Fightin’ 5 #40 way back in 1966. From the set photos that DC has released, Gunn has gone full Silver Age cheese with John Cena’s costume. While Cena is not in the same league as Elba in terms of acting, he is a mainstream star from his WWE career, and that makes me suspect he will play a crucial role in the movie. I will even go so far as to list him as a potential show-stealer.

Getting his first appearance will be costly simply because of its age. Even a 1.5 has a price tag over $100. However, it is cheap compared to other Silver Age first appearances, even minor ones. If you are willing to invest the money, a 9.2 last sold for $515 in December.

Suicide Squad KeysALL-FLASH #12 (1943)

Doctor Who alum, Peter Capaldi, will bring the Thinker to life on the big screen. Like every other character cast in Suicide Squad 2, he is cheesy enough to be well-suited for a James Gunn movie.

For a Golden Age key issue, prices for All-Flash #12 are not terrible. Yes, they are high; after all, this is a comic from 1943, even though it is a minor key issue. If you were to go as low as a 3.0, which is the lowest graded sale recorded, you will still pay over $300. The silver - or should I say Golden - lining is in the higher grades. An 8.5 last sold for less than $600, which is a steal compared to many other keys from that era.
