Marvel's hot new series is raking in serious prices, and it is only going up. Do you have your copy of Strange Academy #1?

First appearances create huge sales for the big two publishers. All it takes is for one character to make a debut to cause a feeding frenzy. In the case of Strange Academy, the first issue introduced 11, and that's not including the ones who weren't identified.

The other part of the equation is the potential for Marvel's Hogwarts rip-off to inspire a cartoon series, which seems highly likely, or move into the MCU. Either way, it will only elevate an already-hot comic.

There were numerous variants tied to Strange Academy #1, and too many to feature in a single post. If you don't see your favorite on today's list, keep an eye out for the follow-up.

STRANGE ACADEMY #1 (FIRST PRINT)

In a matter of months, this comic went from cover price to triple figures.

Whenever there are new characters involved, prices inflate. Those new comics jump overnight, and they can get out of range quickly. With the Disney+ potential for Strange Academy, the 9.8 for the standard cover has already reached over $300. Since July 16, it has not sold for less than $225, and it has sold for $287+ four times in the last seven sales.

STRANGE ACADEMY #1 (COMIC MINT EDITION A)

Not surprising, especially for the debut issue of a new series boasting new characters, S.A. #1 had 11 variants. Instead of walking through each alternate cover, I chose to focus on the two best sellers, both from Comic Mint.

The Comic Mint's Cover A has sold 22 times in the past 90 days alone. What is even more impressive is that it has averaged $132 in that span. From April to mid-June, the graded 9.8 hovered in the $70 range. While that is nothing to scoff at, the sales since July 20 have put that figure to shame. In recent weeks, it has reached as high as $400 and earned $300 three times.

STRANGE ACADEMY #1 (COMIC MINT EDITION C)

The Comic Mint's Cover C has been the issue to have in the scramble for Strange Academy #1. It has sold 45 times in the past three months, and it will have likely cracked 50 by the time this blog is published. It has yet to sell for lower than $60, but the recent sales data shows its only getting hotter. Since July 17, it has sold for below $100 just once. What's more, is that it has ascended into the $150 range over that time.

STRANGE ACADEMY #1 (SECOND PRINT)

There has yet to be any graded sales on record - after all, it only went on sale a few weeks ago - but that will soon change. As of now, you can find the raw copies if you scour eBay. After checking the sold listings, most second prints are selling for about $10-$15, which is a great price compared to those first prints and variants. The good part here is that subsequent printings have become big business, so investing $20 or less for the debut of new characters is a gamble with a substantial upside.
