Reviews from The Blog From Another World

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. A chain of events leaves a somewhat whiny kid named Skywalker an orphan. The story picks up just as the boy starts his journey of self-discovery while an evil Emperor tries to hunt him down.

That’s the basic premise behind Star Wars: Legacy which hits issue 29 next week.

Now it may sound like a recycled story on the surface, but if you’re even remotely familiar with the Star Wars universe, you know that certain themes reoccur throughout the timeline.

What really makes this series worth reading is the Sith. Darth Krayt has usurped the Emperor’s throne with his new Order of the Sith. That’s right! He has broken the “Rule of Two” that Darth Bane created (about 1,000 years before Luke came along and destroyed the first Death Star).

Along with a new Sith Order, you have the displaced Emperor and his force-attuned Imperial Knights who are trying to reclaim the throne. Cade Skywalker (we presume the great grandson of Luke) is not without his own posse or list of other dangerous people who are after him, and John Ostrander & Jan Duursema do a really good job weaving in these subplots into the story.

This is easily my favorite comic. The story and writing are smart and the art has been consistently great. It’s a treat to open this book every month. Jump in on this series as soon as you can. You won’t be disappointed. Check out a 4-page preview to see if you’ll dig this series.

Now it’s your turn. Tell us about your favorite comic, if we put it in the newsletter or on the blog, we’ll send some free stuff your way! Send your story to favoritecomic [at] tfaw.com.
