Time JumperStan Lee announced yesterday his great satisfaction with the purchase of Marvel by Disney. In the quote released by his publicist, Lee mentioned one of the winners was his company, Pow! Entertainment, due to a "first look deal" he has with Disney. Given his good relationship with Disney, it's possible Lee might either get some of his Pow! characters published by Marvel, or he might end up producing some future Marvel films.

First, the quote from Stan Lee:

"I couldn't be happier with this agreement. It's a great move for Disney, for Marvel and for my company Pow! Entertainment since Pow! has a first-look deal with Disney. From every possible point of view, the merger of Disney and Marvel is a match made in heaven. Just imagine, with this deal Marvel gives Disney a library of literally hundreds of unique and colorful characters that have the potential to make great, high-concept movies and long-lasting franchises — and nobody knows how to play in that ball park better than Disney. This is a great day for the two companies and for the entertainment community as a whole. To sum it up as simply as possible, when you combine the best with the best, everyone wins!"

He signed the deal with Disney June 2007:

The Walt Disney Studios has entered into an exclusive multi-year first look deal with "Spider-Man" creator and producer Stan Lee and his production company POW! Entertainment, it was announced by Dick Cook, chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. Under the terms of the agreement, Lee and his production company will develop and produce all forms of entertainment.

April 2008 the first three projects resulting from this deal were announced by Variety:

Walt Disney Pictures and Stan Lee have set up a trio of projects that will be exec produced by Lee and Gill Champion via their POW! Entertainment banner.

The projects are all based on stories by Lee.

"Nick Ratchet" will be directed by Richard LaGravenese ("P.S. I Love You") from a screenplay he is writing. Larry Jacobson and Sonny Grosso are in talks to produce.

"Blaze" is being penned by Gary Goldman ("Next").

"Tigress" is being written by newcomer Zoe Green. State Street Pictures' Robert Teitel and George Tillman will produce. Film is not the same as a previously announced project titled "Tigress" that Lee is developing with Michelle Rodriguez attached to star. That project is based on a "Conan the Barbarian" villainess.

Disney announced an extension of their deal with Lee July 2008, as well as the "Time Jumper" digital comic:

Stan Lee, visionary co-creator of Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man, The Hulk, Daredevil and the Fantastic Four, is teaming up with Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment (WDSHE) to introduce a revolutionary new concept in original superheroes and the comic book format: Time Jumper, which will become the industry's most ambitious digital comic book series ever designed to release on multiple platforms. In addition to the 'Time Jumper' initiative, The Walt Disney Studios announced an extension of Stan Lee's POW Entertainment, Inc production deal that covers all forms of media from movies and television through to publishing, games, the Internet and mobile-Web.
