While there is ALWAYS headline-grabbing movement on the weekly and monthly GoCollect charts (Can I please get my Star Wars comics back from grading!), there are some sneaky, under-the-radar movements that may lead to long-term growth.  Looking at the weekly and monthly charts, there are also ALWAYS some titles sneaking up the lists that merit consideration.  Is Spectacular Spider-Man finally going to soar?

Seven Spectacular Spider-Man Issues Move Up (and Some I Think Will)!

There are seven issues from the Spectacular Spider-Man series on the move this week headlined by Spectacular Spider-Man #147which is up 848 spots.  The other issues moved between 123 to 339 spots.  The surprising thing about these moves is that some of these issues are not the typical issues in the series you would expect to see moving up the charts.  This is particularly notable in the Bronze Age comic chart where issues #4, #5, and #6 all moved up more than 700 spots.

The movement of these issues really highlights how strong the Spectacular Spider-Man series is and perhaps now it is finally being noticed.  Many notable first appearances, great artists, and deaths of characters litter the series.  The first ten issues of the series should merit serious investment consideration or be a staple in any collection.  For example, Spectacular Spider-Man #9 is a prime example of a comic in the series that has gone under the radar for far too long.  First, great cover!  Certainly circles back to being timely with today; which collectors and investors do notice!  Second, it features the first color comic appearance of White Tiger; which makes regular appearances during the series run.  Three previous issues,  #6, #7, and #8 feature an epic battle with Morbius and well, we all know those will generate interest in the next few months!

Notable Super-Hero Team-Ups...and Classic Villains Too!

The Spectacular Spider-Man series contains notable team-ups.  Spectacular Spider-Man #23 features Moon Knight.  Issue #27, just four issues later in the series, features a team-up with Daredevil.  It's also the first Frank Miller drawn Daredevil so...yeah.  There are notable villains too!  Silvermane, Bionic Silvermane, Jack O'Latern, Hobgoblin, etc.  Spectacular Spider-Man is chuck full of key villain battles; including a great run of Frank Miller work that rarely gets the love it deserves.  Finally, the last issue in the series deserves attention.  Spider-Man takes an absolute pummeling in the last issue in the series.  Great art-work by John Byrne on the cover really brings the battered Spider-Man to life in haunting fashion.  Plus, it's the last issue in the series; which brings out collector interest.  Also, the statement of ownership on this paid circulation is a hair under 100,000 copies.  That is not a lot of printed copies for a Spider-Man title.

There are seven issues in the series moving up the weekly chart.  There are five issues in the series moving up on the bronze age chart.  Spectacular Spider-Man is one of those under-the-radar titles that need attention...and some love! High-grade copies still have plenty of room to grow.  Rarely, is it a bad idea to bet against Spider-Man!
