While everyone is out chasing Sub-Mariner #1, the Spawn #300 Gold/Silver Variant, or the runs for House of X and Powers of X, other comics are not feeling the same love. BUT that's great for you!!! This is the time to get the best deals out there before they get hot again and prices jump. Just as in real estate--location, location, location, is everything and in comics, it's timing, timing, timing. With all of the new series and movies coming out the timing to jump on these is now. Keep reading to see what slabs other collectors are sleeping on...

Amazing Spider-Man #194

Why not start off with a book that is just now starting to cool off a little. ASM #194 is where we first meet the Black Cat, Felicia Hardy. Created by Marv Wolfman and Dave Cockrum, Felicia is the daughter of an infamous cat burglar who after traumatic events followed the same path as her dad. In her travels, she has become an item with our beloved friendly neighborhood Spider-Man even being good for a little, but in the end, she went right back to her old ways. So why has her 1st app cooled down? Simple, at first her film with Silver Sable was on rocky ground, then canceled, but the cancellation is a good thing! She is still slated to have her own solo movie but just not with Silver Sable, although she, is also getting her own movie. Recently, sales of a 9.0 see it around the $200's but in June and August it sold for $300, so definitely look into buying and if you have it, hold it!

X-Men #129

With some spikes in May and June at $200 and $230 (respectively), this slab has been holding steady at $170ish at a 9.0. This issue brings in the 1st app of Kitty Pryde, Emma Frost, Sebastian Shaw, and The Hellfire Club, ALL key people in Hickman's run of HOX and POX. I have no clue why this slab isn't flying off the shelves. Granted this was always a medium key, but with recent new story arcs, it features 2 prime members of the Quiet Council of House of X (Emma Frost and Sebastian Shaw). Any and every X-Men key is set up for great speculation till we learn more from Marvel, but this is one key I can bet will go up in time! A 9.8 has seen 2 recent sales this year at about $1700, but if you drop to a 9.0, you should be able to still find one easily for under $200.

Detective Comics #850/Gotham City Sirens #1

Harley Quinn is on fire right now! And Margot Robbie owns that role! What we know so far is that Harley Quinn will be returning to us for Birds of Prey and Suicide Squad, it has been announced she will also be working on Gotham City Sirens down the line. Why wait for this book to rise? Detective Comics #850 is the first time Catwoman, Harley, and Poison Ivy team up but it becomes official in Gotham City Sirens #1. Harley is loved by all and is absolutely a fan favorite. These books will definitely see a rise in value once Harley Quinn is back where she belongs on the big screen.

X-Men #94

The infamous X-Men #94, not big enough to hang with Giant-Size X-Men #1, but not small enough to not garner the respect it deserves. Yes, the first new team appearance was in Giant-Size X-Men #1 but the first time they appear in their title series is here. This is also the 2nd app of Colossus, Nightcrawler, Storm, Thunderbird, and the 3rd app of the legend himself, Wolverine. This is also a milestone comic, it is the first work ever done by Chris Claremont on the X-Men series. For those lucky few holding to a 9.8 (35 total according to our census), the highest sale seen so far at that grade was $18,000 in November of 2018. If you don't mind a lower-grade copy there was a sale for a 1.5 in June for $89.01. Get it while it is still reachable! Once the X-Men hit the big screen this might just be out of reach.

Comic investing is like trading on the stock market, buy low and sell high, it really is that easy. The hard part is learning how to buy and when to sell. Believe it or not, that is the easy part. Read the stories, dive into the arcs and get to know what you are collecting. Remember collect what you love, love what you collect and you will never go wrong.

Happy Hunting!
