Marvel Studios once again has allowed fans to keep them guessing as we continue towards the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The introduction of the alien race, the Skrulls,  in the latest current live-action Captain Marvel movie starring Brie Larson has sparked many different storylines. This shape-shifting race allows them to impersonate your favorite heroes and infiltrate secure bases and locations. Currently, the Skrulls are noted as harmless and non-violence in the MCU. It remains to be seen if their attitude has changed and evolved over the years as they inhabit Earth. Below are Skrull key issues regarding the potential they bring to the future of Marvel.

Fantastic Four #2

Fantastic Four #2 is an issue to call out as it is very difficult to obtain, even in low grades. The comic introduces the first appearance of the alien race, The Skrulls. The Skrulls are famously known as a race that has the ability to shapeshift.  A couple important details of the issue include the second overall appearance of the Fantastic Four and the first appearance of the Daily Bugle.

The book was much more affordable years ago before Marvel Studios exploded with their movie universe. Otherwise, it was more of a callout if there is any individual who is daring enough to go after this issue.

Fantastic Four #18

Fantastic Four #18 introduces a different type of Skrulls species. The issue notates the first appearance of the Super Skrull, otherwise known as Kl'rt. Kl'rt is the first Super Skrull introduced in the comics and gained additional abilities as well. He was given enhancements to stimulate the powers of the Fantastic Four.

This could be one of the very sneaky Skrull key issues going forward as it could introduce more Skrulls down the line. It is also possible that Marvel could use these characters as villains for the Fantastic Four.

Queen Veranke

One rumor that has been on fire for some time is the introduction of more Skrulls. The ending of Marvel's Falcon and Winter Soldier's first season sparked more rumors of another Skrull who might be living amongst the humans. The Skrull I am referring to is Queen Veranke, who known as a Skrull Queen.

There have been numerous reports of certain actresses rumored to portray this character in the upcoming Marvel projects. Though, nothing has been confirmed yet. The latest report is the belief that Emilia Clarke may have been offered the role as she just agreed to sign on with Marvel Studios.

New Avengers #40

Her first appearance can be found in New Avengers #40. The issue also includes a variant second printing that includes the first cover appearance of Princess Veranke in her Skrull form.

Veranke is connected to many storylines that Marvel could use in the near future. She uses her shape-shifting abilities during the "Secret Wars" saga and plays a part in the "House of M" story that involves the Scarlet Witch. The "Secret Wars" story is heavily rumored to be part of the upcoming Marvel movie lineup.

Don't forget She-Hulk!

There are also some sneaky issues you could find in your local comic shop (LCS) in their quarter or dollar bins. With the confirmation of the "She-Hulk" series coming to Disney Plus, some issues to consider grabbing are She-Hulk #22 & #23.

These issues notate the first appearance and first full appearance of Jazinda. Jazinda is notably known for disguising herself as Jennifer Walters, otherwise known as She-Hulk.

Hawkeye and Mockingbird #6

Hawkeye and Mockingbird #6 is a very interesting issue. This comic depicts the first appearance and death of a Skrull posing as Nick Fury. Fans have the general belief that this portrayal is currently occurring in the MCU. Still, it is notable and worth a grab if the issue is very cheap.

Thor: Secret Invasion #2

Thor: Secret Invasion #2 details the first appearance of Godkiller, who is a Super Skrull specifically created to battle Thor with the powers of Titania, Volcana, Thundera, and Battleaxe. It is very possible this character could appear in the upcoming Thor movie or see the character debut in the "Secret Wars" movie battling Thor. It has already been confirmed for Titania to appear in the upcoming "She-Hulk" series with possibly Volcana trailing behind.
