The Secret Wars series was kind of a first and is credited with the beginning of a new era of comics, the Copper Age. It brought all the major superheroes together against the most dastardly villains of Marvel. The end result was not what anyone expected. Now, years later, this book is shocking and awe-inspiring yet again. This time, in a good way for collectors, investors, and speculators. They have seen incredible bursts of profit potential in this Copper Age classic.

Several months ago, I sold one of my investments in Secret Wars #1 grade 9.8. Now, the question is do I sell the other one I own? However, what if this book continues to advance in price returns? I don't want to end up with a debacle and see this book in the $3,000s in a month or two. What to do? Let's review Secret Wars #1 over the last 60 days and see if, it is a worthwhile investment.

Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars #1

Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars #1 is the first title in the series and was created in 1984 by Jim Shooter (script) and Michael Zeck (pencils). This was the first time multiple comic characters crossed over in Marvel, though it wouldn't be the last. Now, it has taken the speculation world by storm and everyone is asking the same question, can it go higher?

What do the professionals say?

I talked to one industry professional grader and presser and his response regarding Secret Wars #1 was right in line with my own. He said, "The book is heavily printed, I don't see it happening for over $1000!" Further, he exclaimed, "I don't think the book is worth that much, even in a grade 9.8!"

Ok. Well, the last line shook me out of lethargy. Later, I am probably going to sell my remaining copy as I have some raw copies that could still be slabbed for additional profit or to hold. The numbers below are actually very positive for this book, especially in the upper grades.

Titania | Marvel 101 - YouTubeConclusion

In conclusion, I believe as time goes by, this book will continue to increase in price. I just don't think the growth is going to be as "fever-pitched" as the recent growth spurt.  In addition, I did an article on this comic several months ago that may help with a factoid:

Titania vs She-Hulk in the Secret Wars | Shehulk, Marvel comic universe, Dc worldLittle Known Fact:

"Secret Wars was a best-seller when it was published in 1984, selling more copies than any other comic in the previous 25 years."  (Source: Wiki)

Therefore, as a best-seller, this book was definitely over-published. This leads to the inescapable conclusion that now is time to sell for investors and speculators.  Bottom line, get over the "shock and awe" and sell this puppy before it drops as if hit by Titania from Secret Wars #3.
