With Anne Weying being featured via flashbacks in Donny Cates’ Venom run, her early appearances are seeing a resurgence.

Sure, Eddie Brock’s lost love, Anne, died in 2000’s Amazing Spider-Man #19, but these are comics, where death is more of a break than a finality. In comic book logic, it makes total sense to bring her back from the dead. So far, all we’ve gotten is a flashback explaining that she passed a codex to Dylan, eventually leading to his powers.

Ever since she was featured in the 2018 Venom movie, collectors have paid more attention to her first appearances. With Let There Be Carnage on the horizon, there is a distinct possibility that her alter-ego, She-Venom, will be in the mix.

All of this adds up to those She-Venom/Anne Weying key issues falling on your radar. Let’s take a closer look at the latest market data.

VENOM: SINNER TAKES ALL #3

This is the issue on the top of the wish lists. Other than She-Venom, this was an otherwise forgettable Venom series. Back in the 1990s, it is more or less what we expected from any Venom solo adventures - all flash and no substance. However, there are a couple of gems to come from Sinner Takes All.

The third issue presented She-Venom’s full introduction, and it has experienced modest gains in recent weeks. After the 9.8 averaged $199 last year, the 90-day average has taken a hit and dropped to $168. The thing to look closely at is this month’s sales. After mostly staying in the $150-$160 range in July, the sales have been increasing in August. On the third, two sales netted $175 and $197, respectively. A day later, another 9.8 reached a year-high of $215.

VENOM: SINNER TAKES ALL #2

Technically, this is the first appearance of Anne Weying as She-Venom. Collectors have been leaning toward the full appearance for years, but this issue is a great companion piece. The highest grade sold this year has been the 9.6, which earned $50 in May. There has not been a 9.8 trading hands online since 2019, but that year did see it secure a $150 fair market value after being a $92 comic in 2018.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #375

In the spring of 1993, Venom was just beginning to be used in more solo adventures. This issue tied to Lethal Protector, which was the character’s first self-titled series. Given Venom’s popularity at the time, putting him on the cover of ASM #375 certainly helped sales. The CGC census data has over 1,100 comics graded at a 9.8. In total, there are more than 2,200 copies of all grades on the CGC census. Suffice to say, this is not a hard issue to find.

Still, it has been experiencing a flux. A year ago, the 9.8 had an FMV of $71. Over the past 90 days, it has jumped to $92. Since the end of July, it has sold for as much as $156 and no less than $85, which is enough to grab your attention.

The real money, however, is in the copy with a printing error. There are just seven of those that have been graded by CGC. The highest grade sold was a 9.4 that brought $600 in 2011. More recently, a 9.2 sold for $1,250 in July 2018.

THE UPSIDE

Could Anne/She-Venom make a return in the comics? Comic book logic dictates it is possible. With the chance of her donning the symbiote on movie screens, these issues have the potential to take off.
