Media Release -- Acclaimed writer Scott Snyder (DETECTIVE COMICS, AMERICAN VAMPIRE) makes a new foray into Gotham City in May with the new, five-issue miniseries BATMAN: GATES OF GOTHAM!
In the debut issue, featuring a plot by Snyder with script by rising star writer Kyle Higgins, a mystery as old as Gotham City itself surfaces, and Batman assembles a team of top detectives - including Red Robin, Owlman, I-Ching and others - to investigate this startling new enigma. As clues are discovered and the mystery deepens, Batman's team finds itself on a journey that explores different eras in Gotham's history and touches upon notable Gotham families including the Waynes, Kanes and Elliotts.
BATMAN: GATES OF GOTHAM has art and covers by Trevor McCarthy, with a 1:25 variant cover on issue #1 by Dustin Nguyen.
This miniseries spins out of recent events in the Batman titles and sets the stage for several exciting storylines in 2011. Additionally, this story touches on mysterious story elements introduced in Grant Morrison's RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE and guest stars many members of the Batman Family!
Please note that this miniseries was originally solicited as six issues, but will actually run five issues.
BATMAN: GATES OF GOTHAM #1 (MAR110292) is scheduled to arrive in stores on May 18.
