Terminator 2 #6
Dynamite Comics
Palmiotti & Raynor

The second issue of the crossover with Painkiller Jane is all action. The Terminator has arrived in the present time and right in the lap of Jane. As you would expect everything explodes and a lot of death and carnage ensue.

We pick up where we left off in the Painkiller Jane issue where the female Terminator shows up demanding Jane’s clothes. Jane gets tossed around like a rag doll and the Terminator snags her jacket. Maureen, Jane’s police buddy, shoots the Terminator in the head to no avail and the chase is on.

Then, we get a couple of pages about how Connor handles the Terminators going back in time in his time period - 2029. The decision is made to follow the Terminator that ends up in Jane’s time as well as sending Reese back to deal with the Ar-nuld Terminator.

The female Terminator ends up in a building where she kills some civilians and some cops. This, while she finds some listings of various Connor in New York City. Eventually Jane can’t sit through the killing of the cops and she barges in and confronts the Terminator. We get a cliffhanger that literally has a cliffhanger.

A solid issue with plenty of action and a little plot movement to boot. The artwork is the usual level you’d expect in a Jane comic. This has the look and feel of a normal arc of a Jane story. There are limbs getting shot off and blood splattering all over the place. The difference with this comic and a regular Jane comic is that it removes some of the issues that are normally prevalent in a Jane comic, like social conflicts, mental obstacles and horrific crimes. Instead, we have Jane just being able to let her hair down and kill a renegade robot. It’s a nice change of pace.

This crossover started out slow with a lot of the Terminator plot in the Jane issue, but with the Jane elements in the Terminator book things have gotten a faster pace. I look for more explosions and shooting in the next two issues. I liked this issue much more than part one and I look for it to accelerate. You really don’t need to have read the first part if you know about the Terminator origin from the movies. I recommend this issue in the arc.

4 out of 5 geek goggles.
