As the MCU builds its own Spider-verse, theories abound that the Sinister Six is coming for the Wall Crawler.

First of all, I can’t take credit for much of this theory; I got it from Film Theory’s YouTube channel, and I’m sure Matt Pat got ideas from other places, too. Still, the Theorist makes a great argument that the Sinister Six, who first appeared in 1963's Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1, is being introduced Avengers-style one at a time, and they will come for Spidey in a future film. When you look closely at his evidence, it makes sense.

It all started with the Vulture in Homecoming. An original member of the Six, he survived the events of Homecoming. Although he did hint at a newfound respect for Peter by not divulging his secret identity, it stands to reason that he will join the Six to eliminate the threat of Spider-Man on their criminal activities.

Homecoming gave us our second member of the Six, Scorpion. While in prison, it was Mac Gargan who questioned Vulture about Spider-Man. Give him a super-powered costume, and Mac can transcend into the Scorpion and be a formidable threat to Spider-Man.

This past July, Spider-Man: Far From Home introduced Mysterio into the MCU Spider-Verse. True, it appeared that Mysterio died in the movie’s finale, but this is the master of illusion. All a screenwriter would have to do is make Mysterio’s death faked, and he is ready for round two. Better yet, since his crew seemingly escaped with all the equipment, it wouldn’t be a far stretch to think that someone else will take over the costume and become the new Mysterio. After all, there has been more than one Mysterio in the comics, and it would work for the movies, too.

The next comes from a much-loved fan theory that has abounded on the internet. The theory is that the Chameleon has already been added to the MCU as Dimitri the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent tasked with guarding Peter’s class on their European excursion. The movie also established that the Skrulls are still on Earth, and since Nick Fury and Maria Hill were both Skrulls in Far From Home, it isn’t too unlikely to think Dimitri is one as well. The other part of the equation is that the name Dimitri is the same first name of the original Chameleon who appeared in the Amazing Spider-Man #1.

That leaves two more spots on the Sinister Six roster to fill. Who would be better to lead this villainous group than Spider-Man’s arch-nemesis, Norman Osborn? While nothing official has been announced as far as Osborn in the MCU, it has been heavily rumored that he will come into the MCU fold in Captain Marvel 2. There’s no way Marvel won’t connect him to Spider-Man, though I don’t picture him riding a glider and wearing a costume. Instead, I picture him being the brains behind the Six, giving them equipment and bringing them together for a purpose. Want more on Norman Osborn joining the MCU? Read about it in "Norman Osborn: The MCU's Next Thanos?"

For the final spot, I imagine Marvel going with a Spidey villain we haven’t already seen in a Sony film. That eliminates Electro, Doctor Octopus, Sandman, and Rhino. In the pantheon of Spider-Man foes, who does that leave? Kraven the Hunter, who was a member of the original Sinister Six.

Kraven has been rumored for Black Panther 2, and I can see Marvel using that film to set up his origin story before sliding him into the Spider-verse. What about the speculation that Namor will be the villain in BP 2? I highly doubt that will happen, but I'll have more on that tomorrow. For now, I'm leaning toward Kraven, especially since Black Panther director Ryan Coogler told Yahoo!Movies that he wanted Kraven in the first movie. That leaves to believe that he will appear in the sequel instead of Namor.
