Heritage Auction's weekly online video game and trading card game auction is on FIRE! From unopened Pokémon cards to sealed video games from 1982, there's something to pique the interest of any collector. Let's take a look at the five items at the top of the chart.

#5: Spider-Man - Wata 9.6 A++ Sealed, 2600 Parker Brothers 1982 USA

Spider-Man is a vertically scrolling action game written by Laura Nikolich for the Atari 2600 and released in 1982 by Parker Brothers. It was both the first video game to feature Spider-Man and the first Marvel Comics-based video game, so it's easy to see why this game is creating such a stir among collectors. Currently, the bid (including BP) is $660. In August 2020 a 9.8A++ copy sold for $1,524.00 and another 9.6A++ went for $960, so it's easy to assume this one will soar even higher before the final whistle blows.

#4: The Legend of Zelda (Classic Series)- Wata 9.4 A+ Sealed, NES Nintendo 1987 USA

Demand for classic Legend of Zelda games continues to increase, even more so with renewed movie rumors. Last year, in line with the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., Nintendo confirmed it has plans for a Mario animated movie. This confirmation has gotten fans thinking: if Mario got a movie for his 35th birthday, will Link get the same treatment for his? Indeed, 2021 is the 35th anniversary of the original Legend of Zelda game, so perhaps that's part of the reason this gem is in such high demand? Of course, the game is a classic either way and has fathered a whole generation of gameplay.  This would be a prize for any Link enthusiast. This piece, a 9.4A+ sealed game, is currently at $1,110 (including BP.)

#3: Back to the Future - Wata 9.6 A Sealed [Oval SOQ TM], NES LJN 1989 USA

This is a 1989 video game released by LJN for the 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System. The game is loosely based on the 1985 film of the same name and featured two songs from the movie's soundtrack: Power of Love and Johnny B. Goode.

This game was widely panned when it was released, but collectors of all things BttF aren't letting a fact like that keep them from snapping up this piece of 80s history. An equally graded game sold on eBay in May of last year for $1,749.99. At the time of this writing, Heritage's listing is up to $1,680, and it's perfectly believable that this could beat last year's sale price. For any fan of Back to the Future, this is a great piece of the franchise's history.

#2: Super Mario World (Player's Choice) - Wata 9.6 A++ Sealed, SNES Nintendo 1998 USA

A super-hot item in this auction, we expected high interaction and boy, are we seeing it! The current bid on this item (including BP) is a whopping $3,960, and it's only expected to get higher from there.

Super Mario World is a 2D Mario game and a launch title released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990. Introduced in Super Mario World is Mario's sidekick, Yoshi, with his own unique abilities and gameplay style.

The game was released to best-selling status on the SNES, received large amounts of critical acclaim, and is commonly seen on Nintendo's best games of all time on various critic listings.  It's easy to see why collectors would be interested in such an iconic game in such pristine condition.

This brings us to our #1 bid at this auction......

#1: Pokémon Unlimited Edition Base Set Sealed Booster Box (Wizards of the Coast, 1999)

You guys, ALL THINGS Pokémon are in such high demand right now! Cards are flying off shelves, the interest is renewed and competitive, and unopened packs of cards are nearing never-before-seen prices. This trend is holding steady with this item.

On January 9, 1999, the Base Set was released. This was the launch of one of the most popular trading card games in the world. The set included 102 cards in total, including the highly popular Charizard. This is a sealed 3rd edition (also known as "unlimited") Base Set Booster Box. It includes 36 booster packs, each with 11 cards for a grand total of 396! The cards have never been touched and they are all likely in GEM MINT condition. Of course, a lot this desirable is expected to go for more than just a few dollars. The current bid, including buyers' premium, is a gum-swallowing $22,200.00. I'll be surprised if the closing bid doesn't take us even higher.
