Aspiring Comic Creators Encouraged to Submit for Year Two of Industry Challenge

LOS ANGELES, May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Platinum Studios (http://www.PlatinumStudios.com), an entertainment media company that controls the world's largest independent library of comic book characters, today announced the opening of submissions for the 2007 Comic Book Challenge (http://www.ComicBookChallenge.com), a yearly contest for aspiring comic book writers and artists worldwide.

Comic book creators are encouraged to submit their entries online beginning today and closing May 31, 2007. The top 50 entrants will be invited to pitch their concepts live to a celebrity panel of industry insiders in July at San Diego Comic-Con. The winner's comic concept will be published in 2008 and also developed for online publishing, mobile download, film & TV and licensing and merchandising. Last year's inaugural contest, drew entrants from twelve countries.

"This contest is an opportunity for aspiring comic creators to have their ideas reviewed by industry insiders, and has the potential to sky rocket them to fame within the comic world and beyond," said Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, chairman of Platinum Studios and founder of Malibu Comics, where he discovered and developed "Men In Black". "Our 2006 winner, DJ Coffman, who won last year with his pitch entitled 'Hero By Night', has turned his passion for comics into a full-time paying gig. We look forward to working with more talented creators this year."

The top 50 entrants will pitch their idea live in San Diego on July 26 and the top 10 semi-finalists will be announced by the judges on July 28. The public will then be able to vote for their favorite concept online at http://www.ComicBookChallenge.com or http://www.drunkduck.com/comicbookchallenge.
