Last week, GoCollect published the first of two blogs where we discussed overlooked key issues of the Eternals. In that blog, I wrote about how Eternals #1 (first appearance of Ikaris) and #3 (first appearance of Sersei) have sucked most of the oxygen out of the room. As a result, #2 (first appearance of Thena) and #5 (first appearance of Ajak) have been flying a bit under the radar. We'll talk about four more overlooked Eternals key issues below.

Eternals #9: 1st Appearance of Sprite

EternalsEternals #9 contains the first appearances of one confirmed character, Sprite (portrayed by Lia McHugh). Although physically Sprite appears to be a child, like the other Eternals, she has lived for centuries.

Since Feige announced the Eternals would be coming, this comic has actually dropped in value in some grades. For instance, the value of a CGC 9.8 has experienced a 7.2% decline during the past two years. Considering the size of the ensemble cast and limited screen time for each character, it's unlikely Sprite will be a main character; that being said, this isn't speculation -- we know that for certain that she'll appear.

Accordingly, this may be a good investment since this book hasn't really popped yet since Marvel announced the movie.

Eternals #13: 1st Appearance of Gilgamesh

EternalsEternals #13 contains the first appearances of another confirmed character, Gilgamesh (portrayed by South Korean actor Ma Deong-Seok). Since the Eternals announcement in 2019, this comic has actually dropped in value in a few grades. For instance, the value of a CGC 9.8 has experienced a 14.1% decline during the past two years across 27 sales. Furthermore, this issue is still affordable; raw copies are selling on eBay for $12 to $50.

Like Sprite, considering the size of the cast and limited screen time, it's unlikely the film will prominently feature Gilgamesh. Still, we know for certain that he will appear and it's likely his first appearance will rise considering its current price point.

Eternals #1 Vol. 2(1985 Limited Series): 1st Appearance of Phastos

Eternals #1 (Vol 2) contains the first appearances of one confirmed character, Phastos (portrayed by Byron Tyree Henry). Phastos is the Tony Stark or Shuri for the group; in other words, he's an inventor who has created numerous weapons for his comrades.

Unlike the other two first appearances discussed above, the value of Phastos' first appearance has risen substantially in all grades since the Eternals announcement. For instance, the value of a CGC 9.8 has experienced a 56.6% increase during the past two years. Still, raw, mid- to high-grade copies are selling for $20 or less. One decent-looking raw copy sold on May 2 for only $4.

Like Sprite and Gilgamesh, I doubt Phastos will receive a lot of screen time; however, considering how affordable these books are on eBay, it's a low-risk investment for a character that we know for certain will appear on screen.
