Graveyard Of Empires #1Media Release -- Afghanistan. Marines face a never-ending onslaught of Taliban. But even hell can get worse. The dead are coming back to life in The Graveyard of Empires, and only together can both sides of the today's conflict survive tomorrow's undead assault.

That's the log line for GRAVEYARD OF EMPIRES, the new comic book series from myself and artist Paul Azaceta (Grounded, The Amazing Spider-Man), with colors by Matt Wilson and letters by Thomas Mauer.

It's been getting some great reviews:

"I will waste no time in telling you that in Mark Sable's few short years writing comics, he has topped all that came before by writing one of 2011's best single issues from anyone."Story 9/10 Art 9/10
-David O'Leary, from his ComicBuzz review of GRAVEYARD OF EMPIRES #1 (out June 15th!).

"Graveyard of Empires takes a cue from fellow Image creator Robert Kirkman's massively successful franchise, The Walking Dead, using a character-driven approach over the typical shock-and-awe tactics of most zombie fiction…Sable shows maturity and restraint, allowing himself and collaborator Paul Azaceta ample time to introduce their gritty, realistic setting and characters, before revealing the true conflict at the heart of their horror story. - Jason Wilkins, Broken Frontier (probably the first - and last - time I'll be accused of "maturity" or "restraint").

If you don't believe me, here's a link to some preview pages featuring Paul's gorgeous art (interrupted by me answering interview questions) on MTV Geek http://geek-news.mtv.com/2011/04/26/interview-mark-sable-and-paul-azaceta-bring-us-taliban-zombies-in-graveyard-of-empires/?xrs=share_twitter
