Welcome back to this week’s Oddball Heritage Items! Each week, we look at the unique items in Heritage’s weekly comic event auctions — after all, there is a treasure or two to be found in these auctions! In the past, we’ve looked at a wide range of fun and unique items such as napkins, toy lots, spinner racks, and more. There’s always something new and unusual in these weekly auctions, so let’s see what we can find this week!

The Cinema of Urusei Yatsura Blu-Ray Collection

In 1978 the weekly manga anthology Weekly Shonen Sunday introduced Urusei Yatsura. From now legendary creator Rumiko Takahashi (Inu-Yasha, Ranma 1/2), Urusei Yatsura -- or Lum in America -- launched her career. The science fiction romantic comedy follows Ataru Moroboshi and Lum, an alien Princess Ataru accidentally proposes too. The original manga run totaled 366 chapters, with 34 graphic novels collecting those chapters. The manga spawned television shows, movies, merchandise, and more.

This Blu-ray collection, The Cinema of Urusei Yatsura, collects all six of the original movies from 1983 - 1991. This unopened collection is noted as being in Excellent Condition. While you can find this set on Amazon Japan, it goes for over $1,000. Import media can be on the pricier side, but if you're a fan of classic anime or collect foreign media, you may get lucky with this!

Archie's Pals 'n' Gals #1 Bound Book

Bound comic books can be a touchy subject with many fans and collectors. If you've never heard of this, it's a comic book (sometimes multiple comics) trimmed and bound together into a hardback book. While it is in the same spirit as a graphic novel, these bound books contain the actual comics. This bound copy has the title embossed on the spine, but there is no indication of what condition the book is in.

The one-year average of a 9.2 CGC Blue Label is $2,595, while a .5 Blue Label's last sale was in 2020 for $50. Similar custom-bound books on eBay have all sold for under $60, so this could be a great opportunity to own a unique, one of a king item.

The Twilight Zone - The Invader Action Figure

In episode 51 of The Twilight Zone, fans were introduced to the admittedly cute, 6-inch robot-like invaders. When we meet them they're going after an elderly woman -- or a giant, as they referred to her as. To commemorate our tiny invaders (and other horrors), Bif Bang Pow released a line of The Twilight Zone figures in 2011. This 6" tall figure was a Comic-Con limited edition, but these do not come up for auction too often. Since then Bif Bang Pow has released a newer Invader figure, on a different card.

Heritage notes this action figure as being in Excellent condition, but the figure has come off the card. The card itself shows general wear. A similar item recently sold on eBay for $43 after 7 bids -- even with the figure detached from the card. If you're an action figure collector or really like The Twilight Zone, expect to pay around $50 for this item.
