NovaOnce again, the rumor mill is spinning with Nova coming to the MCU! He has been rumored to appear in the last couple of years. News through the Marvel pipeline has been slow due to COVID-19. Though, the latest rumor is a solo project for Nova with no confirmation of a Disney+ show or movie. It is not too late to grab the keys, though, the question is which Nova will we see?

Numerous times the character has been rumored to appear in the Infinity Saga. Whether it was supposed to be in Guardians of the Galaxy or the team-up Avengers movie. Two notable names come to mind in which version will we see.

The popular choice for Nova is Richard Rider. His appearance and origin as Nova are in Nova #1. The background story of being the last member of the Nova Corps would be a good plot. Marvel could spin his story due to the Thanos annihilating Xandar during the Infinity Saga.

Nova

Fans think that Nova already exists in the MCU. The character that is being referred to is Dey, who is played by John C. Reilly. He is a Nova offer from Guardians of the Galaxy movie. In the comics, Rider receives his powers from Rhomann Dey, the last surviving member of the Nova Corps. The story could see an injured  Dey come back to Xandar and find his replacement in John C. Reily's character.

In addition, his connection to the team, New Warriors, is also appealing. A couple of years ago, the team had a confirmed television show on Freeform but got canceled in September 2019.

The second notable choice is the current Nova in the comics, Sam Alexander. He would be the modern choice for Nova, as he has appeared in the Marvel animated shows. Sam made his first appearance in Marvel Point One #1. The similarity with Sam and Richard is that they were both members of the New Warriors at different times.

In contrast, Sam became part of the new Champions team. The team consists of Viv Vision, Ms. Marvel, Miles Morales Spider-Man, and Cyclops. Sam was involved in the crossover event between the Avengers vs the X-Men. He was also trained under the current Guardian of the Galaxy members, Gamora and Rocket Raccoon. He has also built a feud with the High Evolutionary, who is rumored to be a big bad in the upcoming phases. Alexander's origin story is not as lonely as Richard's, but it can be tweaked by Marvel to appeal to fans.

Whenever Marvel decides to introduce Nova in the MCU, they will not go wrong in who they choose. Rider or Alexander both bring unique plot lines to the already expanding lineup in Marvel. So this might be your last chance to grab a copy of this character before the boom rises. Unlike other notable characters, Kevin Feige of Marvel has been looking for the right time to introduce this character for years. It appears with the introduction of Captain Marvel that cosmic characters like Nova will be appearing more now.
