It was a roller coaster of a week for several key issues as sales for the week of Christmas saw collectors turning away from the likes of Ms. Marvel and the Young Avengers. Here are this week's coldest comics. If you missed the list of hottest comics check it out!

INVESTORS DAY RIPPLES COLDEST COMICS

Disney and Marvel have been the center of attention since Disney Investors Day and its numerous announcements. That took the heat off many non-MCU properties, which in turn caused a drop in sales. Among those were several high-profile issues that are worth noting. The interesting part will be to see which comics rebound after Christmas.

Keep in mind, this list is based on eBay graded sales data for the past week. The following are five of the most notable falloffs over the past seven days. While sales may have slowed, it is not an indication of their fair market values, most of which are still very high.

877. VAULT OF HORROR #21 (-679)

Across the Hottest Comics, there are plenty of classic horror titles in the rankings. These Golden Age issues are always popular among collectors, especially those early post-World War II gems. Considering their ages and their availability, these command high prices. Vault of Horror #21 is a prime example.

In the grand scheme of things, this comic has no significance on its own. Still, Golden Age and horror comic fans covet these issues whether or not it ranks among the key issues. Due to their prices and rarity, most of these antiquities rank toward the bottom of the list, particularly ones like Vault of Horror #21 that are not significantly collectible in their own right. For it to drop nearly 700 places in a week is less of a surprise compared with last week’s place in the top 200.

435. ALL-NEW MARVEL NOW! POINT ONE #1 (-410)

What is happening here? Earlier this month, those Kamala Khan early appearances were going through the sales roof. Marvel Now! Point One gave us Kamala’s first full appearance as the new Ms. Marvel, which makes it an important key in her character history. Now that we know she has been cast for the MCU, the values for this and her other early appearances are getting more expensive by the day.

That could be why this issue dropped from #25 to 435 in a matter of seven days to be part of this list of coldest comics. The standard cover graded at a 9.8 has also gone from its $401 FMV in 2019 to $748 in the past 90 days. Despite its price hike, this comic will rebound in time.

Coldest Comics419. YOUNG AVENGERS #1 (-330)

I am sure there are many of us in the collecting circles who wished they had invested $194 for a 9.8 back in 2018. With Kate Bishop coming to the Hawkeye Disney+ series, there is little doubt that the Young Avengers will come together in the MCU. Now that 9.8 is averaging $375, and it is only going to get more expensive in the next year.

Why, then, if it is such a great key to have has it dropped by over 300 positions? I feel certain that high price tag is partially to blame. The other factor could be the Fantastic Four overshadowing basically everything else in the collecting world. Like Marvel Now! Point One, Young Avengers #1 will only stay down for so long.

351. AVENGERS ANNUAL #10 (-319)

Here is another key issue that supplanted itself among the top 50 for months just to plummet to #351 in a week’s time. What gives? This could be due to a combination of lack of news on the Captain Marvel 2 front along with high prices.

As far as this week, I see this as simply a bump in the collecting road. Certainly it is noteworthy, but the Avengers Annual #10’s drop will be short lived.

Coldest Comics438. KANAN THE LAST PADAWAN #1 (-280)

For collectors, 2020 has been the year of Star Wars. It seems that every issue of Star Wars has become a major key issue, and anything with characters from The Mandalorian is on fire.

Kanan #1 falls into the future prospect category because it features the first appearances of several key figures from the animated series, Star Wars: Rebels. There are plenty of rumors that any number of these characters will show up either in The Mandalorian or a future Star Wars project.

As for the drop in sales, this is likely due to the popularity of so many other key issues. It is not necessarily a reflection of this issue’s popularity. With The Mandalorian’s second season coming to a close and no news of the Rebels characters appearing in live-action anytime soon, this issue has cooled some adding it to this week's list of coldest comics.

Coldest Comics325. SPIDER-WOMAN #1 (-294)

Again, we see a once-hot issue taking a dive this week into the coldest comics list. Spider-Woman #1 fell by almost 300 spots, finding its way to #325 to land in this week's coldest comics list.

Spider-Woman has been heavily rumored for the Sony Spider-verse, either in the follow up to the animated Into the Spider-Verse or in live-action. With so many Spider-Verse projects being green lit by Sony Pictures, it seems like a matter of time before Spider-Woman gets her starring role. At this rate, Aunt May may get her own solo movie.
