We know little about Kevin Feige's vision for the X-Men except that it "will be quite different" from Fox's films about the eponymous mutant superhero team. While no one can read Feige's mind, it is highly likely that he will try to: (1) use new X-Men characters and storylines (e.g., no Dark Phoenix); and (2) seek a diverse group of characters that come from different countries and racial backgrounds.

Considering that Giant-Size X-Men #1 features a highly diverse cast of characters from around the world, Feige will have a very long list of characters to choose from. He will likely introduce these characters slowly into the MCU, just as we saw him introduce Hawkeye (who first makes a cameo appearance in Thor) and Black Widow (as a supporting character in Iron Man 2). We've already heard rumors that Rogue will appear in Captain Marvel 2 (a logical choice considering she steals Carol Danvers' powers in the comics) and Storm in Black Panther 2 (she once served as Queen of Wakanda).

Accordingly, we should expect to see X-Men who: (1) we haven't seen before in the 20th Century Fox movies; and (2) add diversity (racial, global, or otherwise) to the MCU. Based on these two principles, here are three X-Men -- and their key issues -- who could make an appearance.

Northstar

At the top of my list is Northstar, a Canadian mutant born mutant with the ability to move at superhuman speed. Importantly, Northstar is the first openly gay Marvel superhero. Since (1) we haven't yet seen Northstar on the big screen and (2) he adds diversity as it relates to sexual orientation and his country of origin, it would make sense for him to appear in the MCU. His first full appearance occurs in The Uncanny X-Men #121 (which I have previously argued is undervalued in comparison to The Uncanny X-Men #120). Another key issue to consider is Alpha Flight #106 where Northstar declares: “I am gay!” Raw, high-grade copies of this book are selling for less than $10.00 on eBay.

Jubilee

X-Men #244Jubilee is the daughter of two prosperous Chinese immigrants. She is a member of the X-Men born with the ability to generate pyrotechnic energy blasts.  For a time, she was the team's youngest member and often served as Wolverine's sidekick. She also has a prominent role on the X-Men: The Animated Series (which is now on Disney+). You can purchase raw, high-grade copies of her first appearance in The Uncanny X-Men #244 on eBay for around $25.00.

Forge

X-Men #184Forge is a mutant who possesses a superhuman talent for mechanical invention and wields the ability to cast magic. He's a prime candidate to appear in the MCU because: (1) he's never appeared on film before; and (2) he's a Native American. Forge first appears in The Uncanny X-Men #184. Raw, high-grade copies of this book have recently sold for less than $20.00. Practically a steal.

So what do you think? What new characters might Feige bring to the big screen? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Let me know in the comments!
