Looking for affordable Suicide Squad keys? Take a look at three Modern Age comics worth your investment dollars.

Thank you, James Gunn, for giving me so much blogging material.

After whetting your appetite in “Suicide Keys,” you are ready for a few more options. Better yet, how about some affordable options? After all, two of the three from the first round had higher prices, considering they are Golden and Silver Age lovelies. As we know, even the lowest of Golden Age keys carries a hefty price tag, and those 1960s keys are right behind in terms of cost.

To remedy that, here are three modern keys with low prices that will get a boost from the upcoming movie.

LEGENDS #1 (1986)

The face of brutal, authoritarian government relations, Amanda Waller will be returning for the sequel. Although I mostly detested the first Suicide Squad film, Viola Davis did a superb job in her role as Waller, and I am looking forward to the character’s reprisal.

Ever since fans learned that Waller would be back for Suicide Squad 2, this issue has been picking up steam. The 9.8 has a 90-day fair market value of $90, and the last sale was for $95 in July. Out of the six sales since March, none have traded hands for less than $70.

Suicide Squad KeysBIRDS OF PREY #56 (2003)

I love when movies cast characters I know basically nothing about. It keeps me from having preconceived notions when I watch the movie, and I am much more open to a non-comic accurate portrayal. Such is the case for Savant, who will be played by Guardians of the Galaxy, The Walking Dead, and Days of Thunder alum Michael Rooker.

In the comics, he is a trust-fund baby living off his family’s fortune. He decided to become a vigilante and moved to Gotham CIty, and Batman was not happy about it. Savant then used his hacking skills to blackmail those of influence.

This is an incredibly affordable key issue. With Gunn-favorite Rooker in the role, there is potential for Savant to generate a fan following. His first appearance is next to nothing at the moment. The last time a graded 9.8 sold was in 2003, and it brought a measly $15. Search the couch cushions for enough to buy one just in case it takes off.

Suicide Squad KeysSECRET ORIGINS #46 (1989)

Oh, dear Lord, I cannot wait to see what Gunn does with Arm-Fall-Off-Boy. Every time I type the name, I laugh. Will he be an integral part of the plot? Probably not, but he will thrive in the comedic role for which he was created by Grant Morrison and Marv Wolfman for the Justice Society of America. He is so obscure that he is perfect for a James Gunn movie. I’m surprised the filmmaker didn’t want a complete origin movie for him, he’s so obscure.

This comic has been so unpopular with collectors that there are no graded sales records for it. To put it into perspective, the CGC census has just four total copies listed. However, the word is spreading about Arm-Fall-Off-Boy. The eBay sold listings show copies selling in the $15-$25 range. It is worth that much of a gamble.
