Now that audiences have had time to digest the new Morbius trailer and break down all those delicious Easter eggs, how are these Morbius keys holding up?

With so much comic news rolling out almost daily, it was easy to forget about Morbius. To be fair, the movie was originally slated for 2020; Sony had not released a new trailer for over a year. Now that audiences have seen Jared Leto's full transformation, not to mention all the Spider-verse allusions, the movie is fully hyped.

What helps to build the anticipation comes from Eternals. If you recall, the post-credits scene featured a voiceover from Blade for what is destined to be an epic clash between the two.

On that note, let’s break down three keys to add to your undead shopping lists.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #101

Obviously, the first issue to get the rub from the Morbius trailer has been ASM #101. The first appearance of the Living Vampire will only get hotter as January gets closer.

Of course, the real inflation will happen when he is thrown into the MCU mix and comes face to face with someone like Spider-Man.

Last week, a 9.2 sold for over $3,300, and a 9.0 brought more than $2,300. These days, you can’t get anything above an 8.5 for less than $2k.

This comic has become so popular that the facsimile edition graded at a 9.8 is selling for nearly $70.

VAMPIRE TALES #1

Surprisingly, Morbius would not have his first solo adventure under the Marvel banner. Instead, he was featured in Curtis’ Vampire Tales #1 in August 1973. Six months later, he would headline his first comic for Marvel in Adventure into Fear #20.

Either of those are solid investments as the hype for Morbius increases, but many collectors are aiming for Vampire Tales #1.

The highest grade to sell this month has been the 8.5. For the past two years, there was just one copy at that grade bought and sold online. It earned just $76 in 2019.

This month, there have been two copies purchased, setting a new record of $250 in the process.

ADVENTURE INTO FEAR #24

Here is a minor key with a significant chance to grow in the coming years. After Morbius proved to be a hit in the Spider-verse, he branched into plenty of solo adventures between Vampire Tales and Adventure into Fear. It was only a matter of time before he crossed paths with the Bronze Age’s newest vampire hunter, Blade.

With Morbius being part of the MCU, there is no question that he and Blade will be paired together, and that will create a feeding frenzy for Fear #24. Earlier this week, a raw copy sold for $148. Meanwhile, a 9.6 brought $575 on November 14 after an 8.5 earned $216 on November 9.

UNDEAD PRICES

Besides the MCU, these inflated values hinge on the movie’s box office success. The trailer has fans more optimistic than before, but trailers are often misleading. Sony doesn’t exactly have the best track record, either, and Venom was widely hailed as a movie so bad that it was good. Here’s hoping Morbius leans more toward good.
